FlyLo is one of those artists whose creative output has been so consistently distinctive and weird, that you never have to worry much about quality control. The dude is a mastermind, with an ear for all things odd and warped and beautiful. More importantly, he's intent on following that ear toward exactly what the fuck it is he feels like doing. I suppose Los Angeles was Exhibit A, but with Cosmogramma , or say, his DJ sets of late seem even more focused on expansion, on finding a space that's truly unexplored. "See Thru to U" lands [...]

Sonic adventurer Flying Lotus has dropped a new track from his forthcoming album, Until the Quiet Comes , and it features the terrific Erykah Badu on vocals. I also suspect Thundercat may have something to do with the bassline. This album will be the followup to 20102s well-received Cosmogramma , and it'll be the first album this guy has put out since picking up some serious steam last year with his ever-growing Brainfeeder Records label. Flying Lotus has been killing it with his collaborations as of late, delivering one of the best listens of the summer with " Between Dreams ". If this summer has proved anything, it's that FlyLo is infinitely expanding his creativty and experimentation. "See Thru To U" is a perfect example of this. The cut features Erykah Badu , and sees the two exploring a sprawling, African-inspired soundscape, rife with rhythmic drumming and simplistic, groovy basslines. Flying Lotus and Erykah Badu on a track together? That'll work. Of course, when you get a couple of creative types like these two into a studio, there's a pretty good chance they're not going to come back with the same old, same old. En el 2011, Flying Lotus dirigió el video “Gone Baby, Don’t Be Long” para Erykah Badu. Hoy el productor nos presenta un nuevo track en el que incluye la voz de la cantante. I can't emphasise strongly enough just how perfect a collaboration between Flying Lotus and Erykah Badu actually is in my world. Dream come true. Until the Quiet Comes is released 02/02 via Warp and will also feature Thom Yorke & Thundercat . I literally can't wait.
