We thought it would be sweet to hold out a week before posting any of our own words regarding this stellar video that our buds at Tiny Waves put together, and that sweetness has totally settled like a blanket and touched all of our hearts. Just before parting ways in early January a few of us met at Centinela Park in Inglewood, Los Angeles, just a few blocks from the second day location of the fest, and began our New Year with this memorable conversation. Steve Head [aka Dark Sea of Awareness ] has described the context [...]
It's obvious that more is better than less in some cases. Sometimes all it takes is one person or entity to make something amazing and it always makes me ecstatic to just talk about out of "the norm" ideas. My friend Geoff Morgan used to fling his paint brush at a blank piece of sheet music and speckle the thing with water color. He would then proceed to write that music into an electronic music program on his computer as if he were that up and comer shredder Jason Becker, who lost feeling in his lower limbs only to lose [...]

Ghibli - Aubrey de Grey (Jessica Jalbert remixed) Nelson Mandela once shared that, "If you talk to a man in a language he understands, that goes to his head. If you talk to him in his language, that goes to his heart". As long as I've been aware of Tom Mike's prolific consumption of 'internet presence', it has become his knack for exploring the possibilities of a collaborative language that have kept me around. Now, I'm not referring to his dizzying amount of information and sounds shared via facebook, tumblr or twitter, but the [...]

No Monster Club - Wish Me Well Putting videos together really isn't a strength of mine, but that doesn't mean that it can't be a whole lot of fun. A few weekends ago I got together with a few friends and shot a short PSA on the effects of the meat industry upon global climate change, deforestation, and the world at large. The more I've taken the time to think about the ritual of meat the more I've also developed a thread in relation to sexuality, both are highly fetishized and in Western society [...]

by brian vu Absent Fever - Exquisite Corpse Composed by impulse and the stream of consciousness, seven juxtaposed artists came in union to create a collective vision; distinct and furthermore one. Seven of the Absent Fever artists collaborated to create one seven minute song. Each was given only the previous artist's one minute to base their one minute off of, and was told to compose from solely initial creative reaction. In result is a seven minute long guide through the soundscape of Absent Fever. [...]

USF - Point Break II I'd rather be ashes than dust. I would rather that my spark burn out in a brilliant blaze, than be stilled by dry rot. I would rather be a superb meteor than a sleepy and permanent planet. The proper function is to live, not to exist. - Evel Knievel , quoting Jack London [beginning issue #1] Penned by Seattle's Jason Baxter [of USF ] & Mac Hamilton with artwork produced by New York's [...]

Cop Magnet - Koolifornia #HDBOYZ is the world's first high definition boy band, and the collaboration of media enthusiasts Alex Kelly-Hoffman [Cop Magnet, Gvcci Hvcci, Max Velocity], Ryder Ripps [dump.fm, internet archeology], Aaron David Ross [Gatekeeper], Colin Self , Tabor Robak , and Thunderhorse . Now all of these fine individuals are beyond deserving of their own praise, but considering that today is my sweetie roomie Alex's birthday we thought it'd be nice to just collectively say "we love you and can't [...]

Anamanaguchi - Britney Spears / Katy Perry / Miley Cyrus medley It was 2006 when Anamanaguchi first loaded their cartridges into our lives, Luke Silas had introduced the bleeps of the recently released Power Supply EP to his buds in Los Angeles and Mario Luna used "Helix Nebula" during the credits of a short he had made senior year of high school. We became pretty diehard from then on out and Cameron and I, with the help of a ton of friends, even managed to bring the 'guchi [...]

Michael Parallax - Growing Splendid As part of our series highlighting the spunky folks that you'll be meeting at FMLY Fest we've chosen today to celebrate our love of Florida's Michael Parallax . A fine feline of a Spirit Cat and one-part Oh Fortuna , Mikey has shared eight home brewed albums with the internet since '06 documenting only a portion of a much larger history of collaboration among his friends and family. These documents he has left behind collect the doubts, frustrations, highs, and great hopes of a given [...]

Opens by Hear Hums Our Tiny Waves bff Ralph Giunta recently directed the humble b&w video for Hear Hums ' "Growing", off of their forthcoming album Opens . Treated to 16mm film the optic journey 'opens' in Orlando's Dandelion Communitea Cafe surrounded by friends. As our eyes begin to adopt Ralph's vision he witnesses a prescribed physical environment similar to most urban areas, and more specifically, a society that has embraced a notion of the installated organic in our material landscape. Thank you ALASKAS , Body Cheetah , Levi Mandel , and Sick of the Radio for making these respectively possible. Even though I think oh so highly of Dillon Rego [ALASKAS] he constantly blows my mind in the presentation of creating vocal spaces. I love getting my bliss on while soaking in a live "Play Rough" environment, and this video shot by recent Cooper Union-grad Levi Mandel captures more than sounds but principles and personal ideals. Glue yourself. Additionally, James' documented vocal recording shot for Sick of the Radio's Practice Space series seems to fit [...]

Winters in Wisconsin are good for one thing - hibernation. Last winter me (VD) and my best friends Kaleb and Shelly huddled up together and made this short film. They asked me to create a series of soundscapes for them to animate to. This one is Isolation. Shelly and Kaleb burrowed into their room night after night for a total of 200 hours to create this incredible film. Let it load HD/fullscreen/headphones. Take a minute out of yr busy day and get lost in isolation. [...]

Music has to do with sounds, so we need to find them somewhere and it is preferred to find musical ones. You have two sources for sounds: noises, which always tell you something — a door cracking, a dog barking, the thunder, the storm; and then you have instruments. An instrument tells you, 'la-la-la-la.' Music has to find a passage between noises and instruments. It has to escape. It has to find a compromise and an evasion at the same time; something that would not be dramatic because that has no interest to us, but something that would be more [...]

Rihanna sure knows how to have a good time and we love it! The island beauty recently returned home to Barbados to celebrate Koodament Day. In the gallery below you can see her in a red bikini and garb for the Koodament Day parade. Video below as well.

We all know Da Brat can be sexy whenever she feels like it although she prefers the baggy jeans and oversized T's I definitely prefer this look on her. VIBE got platinum selling rapper to ditch her normal wears for something a little more lady like, it works. You can see the rest of the flicks here .

Damn, Beyonce's definitely been on her game lately, with her new album 4 which debuted at #1 on Billboard and her "Run The World" video at over 61 million views on YouTube, she's pretty much forever proving that she will always be the "baddest bitch in the game." But recently she's covered the August/September issue of Complex, looking as beautiful as ever. Now, I'm not the biggest Bey fan, but I will always have the biggest, gayest crush on her that I will have on any celeb. *shrugs* Anway, (above) check out some [...]

She says she's still debating whether to accept Hugh Hefner's $2 million offer to pose on the cover of Playboy. - NYPost Call me a skeptic but I'm having a hard time believing Hugh Hefner hit Foxy Brown on the jack and offered her crazy $2 million to cover his Playboy magazine. Inga has lost weight and those Double D's are still milky but this just doesn't sound true at all. Beside the Playboy statement she does have a pretty godo interview with NY Post where she talks about the bad [...]

Myself and Dino Rossi have put together a little visual mix for the FMLY called Flawless Heart. The concept for the mix was to build on some of the different elements that personify weird, bedroom pop. Everything from: climatic vibratto, soulful whispers, blazes of smooth synth waves and other variants of electronic sound. Every song kind of plays off each other. I knew Dino had the right collection of old film footage for the visual aspect of the mix. As a whole, I feel like this visual mix tells a great story about random adventures and how [...]
