DJ sets om naar te luisteren zijn er al genoeg op het internet, maar meekijken in de club is iets wat je nog maar weinig of niet tegen komt. Aaah! Fast hätte ich's vergessen: Fabchannel macht dicht! Schuld sind Lizenzstreitigkeiten mit den Plattenfirmen und als Folge dessen fehlendes Geld. Es bleiben also nur noch drei Tage, um sich die vielen schönen Konzerte anzugucken. Ich empfehle besonders Shows von MGMT , The Presets , Cold War Kids und Buraka Som Sistema .

Big shock in the digital music world today as online concert channel Fabchannel.com announced it will close, as of today, due to bad economic prospects within the music and online advertising market. Die beiden Live-Streaming-Portale Fabchannel und Life-Beats haben heute zwei interessante Schmankerl im Angebot. Eines kommt direkt aus dem Zürcher Abart in die gute Stube. "Sie kriegen jeden: Die Crystal Antlers sind gnadenlos lärmig und catchy zugleich". Uns selber zitieren wir am liebsten. Genau das stand vor vier Monaten nämlich auf 78s und das gilt heute natürlich noch immer. In einem Monat veröffentlichen die Kalifornier ihr Album "Tentacles". Got an email through last night from the people over at Fabchannel letting me know that tomorrow (Wednesday 11 Feb) they will be streaming a live performance by Buzzcocks for free. I thought this warranted further investigation, so went and had a look at their site. It houses an archive of performances from various bands, ranging from big international names (The B-52s, Calexico) to smaller Dutch acts - all in really good quality, and best of all completely free! I know we're always gushing about FabChannel , but frankly I still find it a mystery why this site isn't more popular. Dr. Dog was one of my favorite bands of 2008 and this concert further showcases their talent. Being that their earlier stuff is not very well recorded, this gig also sheds more light on their earlier material. Watch it! And when you're done, head over to FabChannel to catch some other excellent concerts like MGMT and dEUS .
