Typically the Rapture is associated with "the end," but The Rapture's performance at The Factory has proven that it is only the beginning.
Synth Britannia is an essential 2009 documentary about the rise - and rise of synth-based music in the UK. It's an insightful film containing interviews with the hot and heavies of the early synth era. The stories of Wolfgang Flür of Kraftwerk, Philip Oakey of The Human League and Andy McClusky of OMD (and a [...]

We've have talked about Alone at 3AM before here on ENS, and I have always counted myself as a fan of this criminally underrated Cincinnati group. The guys play some great Americana, in the same vein at Drive-By Truckers or Lucero, and I just got my first taste of the new material, and it's worth your time. Here is the good news, in official release format. Alone At 3AM is excited to announce their next full-length album will be with released on Suburban Home Records . The band finalized details with [...]
The Deep Dark Woods - We're not sure just how much hometown Saskatoon, Saskatchewan plays into their sound, but we're guessing that this amiable, unpretentious and quietly disarming "Canadiana" folk/rock is probably in the water up there...2009 album Winter Hours proved a breakthrough, winning awards and receiving major critical praise...confident new self-produced project is layered with experimentation in sound and instrumentation that enriches rather than distracts... // Release : The Place I Left Behind (August 2, Six Shooter/Canada; US: October) // Sounds like : scruffy, acoustic-driven songs seem cut from [...]
One of our favourite finds of the year, the NYC-based Balto, have released a new video for their song Kirov Factory. Taken from the bands sublime debut record, Octobers Road, the video was shot live at Arlene's Grocery in New York City by Ian Durkin. Alongside the release of the video the band have also announced their first ever headline tour of the US, and you can find the full list of dates below the video. * * * [...]

With a lineup with names like Datsik , 12th Planet , Nero , and Skrillex , Wobbleland basically guaranteed it was going to be a success, but neither you, nor I, nor promoters VitalSC, nor perhaps even the artists themselves could have imagined what kind of sheer destruction it would be. A massive dubstep zombie army flanked the crowd on all sides, warping every victim in there into grimy, wobbling slaves. Good god. Before we even talk about the sets let talk about this venue, The Factory. This spot just screams [...]

John Pantry is one of those artists that deserves to be heard by more people, especially those who value melodic British pop. He released one decent solo disc in the early 70s (which has not been reissued as of this date) before delving into the world of Christian music. Prior to that, he had been a talented studio engineer for IBC Studios (working with Eddie Tre-Vett), producing for the likes of Donovan, The Small Faces, The Bee Gees, The Who, Jimi Hendrix, and Cream. He was also a member of Peter & The Wolves, an accomplished mid 60s pop group from Leigh-on-Sea/Southend and had a major hand with many other [...]

Let me mention some song titles - "Fish Needs A Bike", "White Line Fever", "My Mother Was An Enemy Of A Friend Of The People", "Cherry Blossom Polish," "Minibar". Conjure up any images in your frazzled minds? Put on a Blurt album and I can guarantee that you will arrive at the end of it either wishing you'd never started, or wishing it would never en... "The birth of a new color exists". Well I'm intrigued; I've always wanted to see a new color. This video gives you a little behind the scenes look at the Pantone color factory. Be prepared for a number of tasty shots of ink and paper. The video is "to celebrate the release of The Plus Series , the next generation of the classic Pantone Matching System" and was produced by Base . What would be really cool is if a color was invented that actually *looked* new. Sure they have 'invented' lots of new colors, but [...]

Yup, exactly as the title says. A lot of people are pretty disappointed in their latest album "Infinite Arms" and I can see why, but I'm still undecided. It's not bad, it's certainly not great, and it's nothing compared to either of its predecessors, but it's still a decent album. Anyway, have a listen to a couple of the songs from the album and watch them on Letterman last night. Buy "Infinite Arms" from Amazon - CD | Insound - LP (Vinyl) | CD [...]
