The new xx single, "Angels," resembles their best stab at Beach House. Funny that both played the late night tv rounds last night. The track is clearing lacking in the Jamie xx department. In case you missed it, the xx announced some tour dates that you can check below. Beach House performed two tracks on Late Night with Jimmy Fallon. It was good to see Victoria's hair not look like a bird's nest and seemingly sounding upbeat. the xx - Angels (Andrea Remix) [mp3] Beach House - Myth [...]
R. Kelly guested on Late Night With Jimmy Fallon last night to perform "Feelin' Single," wearing some type of French Montana scarf and opting to use his own band instead of The Roots. His new soul album Write Me Back and his autobiography Soulacoaster: The Diary Of Me are out now. See Gary Oldman read an entry of the latter on Jimmy Kimmel's show below: Put down those Shades Of Grey books and get into some real literature. Video: R. Kelly Performs [...]

Hot Chip are growing up before our eyes. The fun party band use to just go out for kicks, but something struck me a little different on "In Our Heads," the latest album from Hot Chip. The album plays like one of my favorites of 2012 and who knew they had it in them to put together a slow love jam in the track, "Look at Where We Are." I like the change in scenery with the new material and their live show is one I sadly regret missing a vast majority of when [...]

On July 9th and July 10th, Tom Waits visited Late Show with David Letterman and Late Night with Jimmy Fallon to perform and talk about his latest release, Bad As Me . Footage from both appearances has surfaced online. In related news, on July 18th, Refused will be visiting Late Night with Jimmy Fallon for their first ever television appearance. The show will be taped prior to their upcoming show in Brooklyn's Williamsburg Park [...]

Tom Waits, Casey Waits, Larry Taylor, David Hidalgo, Augie Meyers and Bill Morganfield closed out the final Bad As Me promo stop in NYC last night with a new track from the album, "Raised Right Man." Performing for Jimmy Fallon's Late Night - at the same Rockefeller Center studio he graced in the '80s - Waits & Co. got even deeper into the pocket than they did with "Chicago" a mere 24 hours prior. This time, Morganfield offered backing vox while even the audience yelped between the groove a bit, amped up by Waits' blues-fueled trance. Watch their [...]
Frank Ocean. You've probably heard the name quite a bit in the past week in one way or another. And while a lil 'ol blog like Mixtape Muse writing about a buzzed about artist might seem like an attempt to ride the coattails of that buzzwave in an attempt to increase our amount of hits, it's really not. We here at Mixtape Muse have been fans of Ocean (born Christopher Breaux) since last year's debut Nostalgia, Ultra mixtape. And so, I feel I must share Frank Ocean's performance from Monday night's "Late Night with Jimmy Fallon." [...]

After just one day, Frank Ocean's Channel Orange is sitting atop the US and UK iTunes. Coming out wasn't such a bad move after all. Of course, this stunning debut television appearance on Fallon didn't exactly hurt either.
Jimmy Fallon continues to be the king of late night sketches--unsurprising given his roots--and Justin Bieber continues to be game for anything as long as it's funny.

Japandroids are finally getting their due. "Post-Nothing" lit up my summer in 2009, much like "Celebration Rock" has three years later. The good news is that the fist pumping Canadians will be in town at the Larimer Lounge on June 19. Their performance on Jimmy Fallon didn't quite capture the energy of the sweaty show and highly recommend catching the small club tour. Thanks to Pedestrian TV for the heads up on a possible hook-up between two titans in the music scene in Radiohead and Jack White. Radiohead dedicated a song during [...]

It wouldn't be unfathomable for Edward Sharpe & the Magnetic Zeros to make another album to rival their first album. Realistically speaking, not sure there's much of a chance to come even remotely close to "Up from Below." The Zeros have released the charming follow-up with the release "Here," and despite lacking any of the punchiness from the first album, the sophomore album plays as well as one could expect with the primary album receiving a lot more careful attention. The Walkmen appear to have reached a twilight moment in the ten plus [...]

The Afghan Whigs haven't been on TV or around for a minute. Last night saw a rejuvenated act that hadn't been seen in over thirteen years. Let's not take so long next time, eh, Greg? I love the tongue and cheek rock that the Hives bring to the table. It's all frills and you know when you watch those guys on stage, they're giving it their 120%. All the time. They know one speed. GO! the Hives-Go Right Ahead [mp3] the Afghan Whigs-See and Don't See [mp3] [...]
