Eye Emma Jedi 's "Places" is the sort of guitar-driven, adrenaline-pumping indie rock we don't nearly get enough of these days. Hailing from Norway, these Scandinavian chaps spent 100 days outside the village of Marbella on the Southern coast of Spain recording their debut album. "Places" is our first taste of said LP and reminds us of Fang Island in all the right ways. Fun fact: Dan Croll used to play with these guys. So chew on that. Stream the track below. Fang Island and Anamanaguchi are two of the most party-ready bands out there. When the two announced they would be hooking up for a remix of Fang Island's latest single, "Sisterly", my expectations were set pretty high. Thankfully, Anamanaguchi do not disappoint. Staying true to the original track's massive hooks, the NYC bit-core outfit adds just enough of their Nintendo-inspired madness to the mix. "Sisterly" and its Anamanaguchi remix are available for purchase on iTunes . Fang Island's sophomore record, Major , comes out out on 7/24 via Sargent House . [...]
Listen below for Fang Island 's newest single, "Asunder" , the first from their upcoming sophomore album, "Major" . After 20102s praised self-titled debut album, Fang Island returns with "Asunder" - the first single off their sophomore effort, "Major" , due for release July 24th via Sargent House . On the new track, the trio maintains their signature distorted-guitar-driven tunes, while utilizing catchy hooks, providing a fresh take on pop-punk. "Asunder" seems to be be picking up right where the band's self-titled left off, as [...]

Offering further evidence that 2012 is shaping up to be the best year for guitar-based rock music in a some time, party rockers Fang Island will be releasing their follow-up to their awesome self-titled debut in July, and if first single "Asunder" is any indication, it should be an absolute barnburner. The new track is a relentless assault of headbanging guitar solos, massive power-pop hooks and soaring vocal chants. Fans of the band's debut or just anthemic rock music in general, should be very pleased. MP3 Fang Island - Asunder [...]
Rhode Island’s finest math-pop trio Fang Island are back in the game this summer with their second record Major , and here’s hook-laden, chugging lead single “Asunder” for your headbanging pleasure. Good luck not getting whiplash, because “Asunder” is a track that just doesn’t let up – massive, motorik drums relentlessly pound as tightly interwoven pop-punk guitars fight for dominance, frontman Jason Bartell wails anthemic, catchy lyrics, the whole thing ends in a storm of clattering handclaps. All in all, “Asunder” puts Fang Island in the front lines of [...]

Here are a few tracks I discovered in the inbox whilst traveling to the wonderful island of Ocracoke today: California Wives - "Marianne" This four-piece indie rock outfit recently signed with Vagrant Records. They will be releasing their debut LP soon. For now, they are offering a free download of the track, "Marianne." I have to agree with the observation that this track sounds like something from a John Hughes track. Their Chicago roots might have something to do with that. - Fang Island - "Asunder" [...]
The Brooklyn party-rock trio Fang Island are about to return with their new album Major , the follow-up to their self-titled 2010 breakout. And "Asunder," the first track we've heard from the album, is a triumphant riff-rocker that sounds like a pure sugar-rush rendered in musical form. Download it and check out the album's tracklist below. Read More...

Words by Vicki I’m not a casual concertgoer. I’ve been known to say that I’m fine with hanging out in the back of the crowd, only to find myself pushing my way to the front as the band takes the stage. In the weeks leading up to a show, I usually make a point to study up on the bands and familiarize myself with their material. I like being able to recognize the songs as they’re being played, and I want to get as much out of the experience as possible. [...]

My love affair with Sargent House continues with one of the latest additions to its roster, Adebisi Shank . Like most of the label's acts the Ireland three-piece is hard to categorize, but combine Fang Island's grandiosity and Tera Melos' eccentricity and you're almost there. These guys are well-versed in the ways of experimental rock but it takes some true champs to make this kind of music accessible. Sure, it's a bit weird, but you'll find yourself oddly hooked to Adebisi's quirky audio manipulations and face-melting guitar riffs. MP3: Adebisi Shank - [...]

Continuing our best of 2010 coverage we now look at some of the awesome songs recorded by our pals at Daytrotter this year. And I will just go and say it... Daytrotter is quite possibly my favorite places to find music on the internet. If you are not clicking over there at least one a week, you are really missing out. Yes, you have to register and use their java-based downloader thingy, but it is so worth it. These are our favorite Daytrottin' tracks of 2010 . Listen. Downloadables: [...]
After writing for TWJ for about a year now, I have mutated into a spider of the Interwebs. I creep across my familiar threads and pluck tasty morsels from the regular traps with ease. Now that I seem to be officially a blogger (*gasp*), I have become more of a “Song” fiend, who sees and [...]

The track info should give you a pretty good idea of what to expect. The guy who works for the label (Sargent House) said "this is the song that I want playing in a montage of my happiest moments." Well played intern. But what if your happiest memory is listening to this Fang Island song? Yeah..,.think about that for a minute. Andrew W.K. was meant to jam with Fang Island, Joe Buzzell was meant to be covered by them, and college kids were meant to shotgun their first beer to their [...]
