I've been gone a while and I'm not sure how credible my recommendations are at this point, but hear me out on this one. These dudes are from (some other unnamed and self-proclaimed notable bands out of) Seattle and they call themselves My Goodness . I'm still not sure what my final decision is - they might totally suck or they might be awesome, but either way the song in the video (posted below) gave me the same feeling I get when I listed to Aenima (Tool. Duh.) In fact, I think they sound like what would [...]

The first thing I ever heard from Hooray For Earth was a remix of Coma Cinema 's 'Her Sinking Sun.' I'm pretty big on remixes so I asked google where I could find some more.... in addition to some tunes, google gave me some 411 - Hooray For Earth formed in Boston in 2006 and currently hail from the big apple. Their latest LP, True Loves , just dropped on Tuesday and If you are in NYC you can check them out at Webster Hall on June 16th with Architecture in Helsinki!!! The rest [...]
![Zed's Dead Remixes – Sublime, Rolling Stones, Radiohead [MP3]](http://cdn.elbo.ws/posts/3379028_lg.jpg)
It's been a while since yall heard from me. I apologize. I'm gonna keep this one real short and to the point. Zed's Dead is a dubstep production duo from Canada. Their song "19753 is currently climbing the hype machine charts and was featured in a super-sexy behind the scenes video of Russian super model Irina Shayk's GQ photo shoot. Here's some candy for your eyes: And here's some candy for your ears: Zed's Dead - 1975 Radiohead - Pyramid Song (Zed's [...]

This guy is pretty good. The dude kinda reminds me of Ben Gibbard (specifically 'I'll Follow You Into the Dark' which is like the saddest/best song ever, and I don't even like Death Cab), and his name also happens to be Ben - Benjamin Francis Leftwich . Dig this little acoustic diddy called 'Pictures' - the lead track from his March 7th release on Dirty Hit. Which, I should add, was produced by Ian Grimble (Mumford Sons, Manic Street Preachers, Siouxsie The Banshees). The EP melds Benjamin's flair for delicate and beautiful songwriting as it glides from the deft [...]
![Band To Watch – Vanaprasta [INTERVIEW]](http://cdn.elbo.ws/posts/3151119_lg.jpg)
Hi. I'm Steven. When C4 asked if I wanted to contribute to FW I had absolutely no idea what or who I'd write about. After I mulled it over for about a million years I decided I was over thinking it. A couple of months ago I went to some random show at the Troubadour. I'd never heard of any of the bands on the bill but I walked out of that show having heard one of the best local acts I'd ever heard. Enter Vanaprasta . The five members of Vanaprasta create edgy, [...]

We're a little slow on the blog these days and probably will be for quite some time, but here's a little something to tide you over for a bit. Our buddies Mouth's Cradle just dropped a new mixtape - dig The Hype here, and download the whole release at the link below. LISTEN Mouth's Cradle - The Hype DOWNLOAD (external link)

If pure sound had the capability to project images on a blank wall, Mini Mansions would be worthy projectionists. On a break from Queens of the Stone Age, Michael Shuman melded heads and locked arms with longtime friends Tyler Parkford and Zach Dawes in a dusty room in the San Fernando Valley. Here, they began a collaborative séance out of which birthed Mini Mansions in January of 2009. Though their triangle is usually confined to piano, bass, and a cocktail drum kit, the LA-based trio generates a Technicolor spectrum of sound drawn from the baroque, gothic, psychedelic, and [...]

Fierce Creatures emerged from the scorching Fresno, CA summer of 2009. Abandoning past musical undertakings that never quite seemed to fit, the band came together to build an identity free of limitations - an identity focused on the joy of undiluted music. Guitars and keys drive their tunes, while mandolin, harmonica, and bells accentuate them with chanting choruses and a miscellany of percussion. The product: cultivated art-pop that can only be called Fierce Creatures. Dig the clips and tunes below, and if you're into it you can snag the debut EP I Mostri Feroci here . [...]

Fareed and Connor are Headless Horseman , and you should give a shit about that because Headless Horsemen makes some good tunes. Truth be told, I don't know shit about electronic music. I'm not gonna lie. I mean, the mash-up remixy what sample is this kinda electro is not something on which I profess to be the oracle. But I do know when shit sounds good, and if after you listen to the track Wavlngth you can say you aren't into it then you probably shouldn't be reading this blog like, ever, cause this sound kinda embodies exactly what [...]

If you know Curtis Jenkins, you should know he LOVES baile funk. Baile Funk, also called funk carioca, is a Brazilian dance music that originated in the favelas of Rio de Janeiro and is heavily influenced by 1980s Miami Bass music (like 2 Live Crew!) This is some serious party music, where thousands of young people gather together every weekend to shake their asses. Here's a clip from Diplo's documentary Favela On Blast , a GREAT introduction to Rio's baile funk counter-culture. Check the links that follow for more clips: [...]

One of the weapon's most favoritist picks, Mouth's Cradle is at it again.........dig the track 'Solar Bear' (below) and the super-cool video for their song 'Demon'. If you haven't already done so, get yourself over to iTunes to download their album The Next Big Thing and when you decide you love 'it just remember we told you so! and here's another one we dig - blah DOWNLOADS Mouth's Cradle - Solar Bear [...]

SoKo (born Stéphanie Sokolinski) is a French singer and actress, best known for the track 'I'll Kill Her'. In 2007, SoKo achieved a hit single in Denmark with the song after The Black Boy Scouts began to promote it. The song reached number one on Danish radio charts as well as in the Danish iTunes Store. In Australia it placed number nine in the Triple J Hottest 100 of 2007 music poll. The Danish and the Aussies must have WAY better taste in music than we do, because in 2007 the top song out the US iTunes chart was [...]

I'm not really a fan of most hip-hop or urban soul. There, I said it. And it's not really cause I don't like it as much as it's the sheer fact that a lot of it just isn't very interesting. It sounds the same, or it's too self-assuming, or it just doesn't strike me, which is why I really dig this chick's sound. CILLA K. is a vocalist, beat maker and songwriter based in New York, and she's a fucking good one. The only thing that my [extremely limited] knowledge of this style of music brings to mind [...]

So I live in this house that happens to be a pretty hot spot for shows if you live in Macomb, IL (which you probably don't), and last weekend we had a hip-hop show. Towards the end of the show one of the acts, Vertual Vertigo, announced their participation in what I like to call a new hip-hop "supergroup". 500 LB GUERILLA is made up of (in my opinion) a few of Chicago's best real hip-hop artists - Phillip Morris, Awdazcate, Elevation, and Vertual Vertigo . I've known the guys from Vertual Vertigo for a hot minute [...]

So if you've been following the weapon for longer than 6 months then you probably know how stoked I get when someone sends me REALLY GOOD music. And you've also probably noticed that I lag like a bitch when it comes to posting sometimes. So I dono how long this stuff was sitting in my inbox but I'm pretty glad that I took the time to listen to it cause these tunes are pretty rockin. Enter two young dudes from Syracuse University who make an original blend of hip-hop, pop and electronica mixed with 50's doo-woppy sounding rock n roll. [...]

I'm a huge LCD Soundsystem fan, personally - I think James Murphy makes some of the most urgent, emotionally moving music out there (and the dude can certainly produce a record, too). That said, here's the fucking crazy music video for the excellent new single "Drunk Girls." If you haven't heard it yet, grab the track below; I'm not entirely sure why it hasn't gotten as much love as it should. It basically sounds like a different version "Watch the Tapes" but with less of a bass groove and more hilarious lyrics. [...]

A band name like Sugar & Gold may conjure up some sort of image of party-rockers, prone to disco freakouts and fun times. In the case of this particular band, that mental visage certainly holds true. See that picture up there? Yeah, that's the kind of music you're in for, and I'll be damned if it's not catchy. These guys seemingly came out of nowhere, but their debut full-length Get Wet! suggests a band that's been at this for quite some time now. A fully realized mishmash of electro-funk, disco backbeats, and indie pop, [...]

New York producer Chris Glover, AKA Penguin Prison , is no stranger to the music industry. According to the usually-hyperbolic-but-sometim es-spot-on British press, he's done everything from gospel choirs to punk bands to boy bands. His Penguin Prison project has been making some noise since around fall of '09, and people are definitely starting to take notice. It's no secret why they would - dude's got some serious pop chops. His songs bubble and pop with echoes of a slightly less nasal (and obviously less British) FrankMusik, Hot Chip, and echoes of new wave and disco artists past. Of [...]

Dum Dum Girls are streaming their new record I Will Be all this weekend on their site. Also here: Dum Dum Girls - I Will Be by subpop Unsurprisingly, we think you should head on over to their site for reals and give it a listen because the media player in that post is way cooler than this one. FYI, we kinda love this band for more than just the stupid cat photo, sweet name, pretty [...]
So somebody sent me this a couple weeks ago and I've heard some mixed criticism - people either don't like this chick's voice, get pissed because they "destroyed" a Cock Sparrer song, or totally love it (like I do). I was having some drama and this shit kinda brought me to tears. Maybe it isn't as good as I think it is and I was just in a "mood" if you will - I've listened to it since then and I still kinda like it but I'm interested in your opinion. What do you think? Personally I think [...]
