
January 20-21 saw the postponed Storm Festival ( from February 11-12 due to persistent rains ) taking their moniker very seriously, as they took Coorg by storm. In early 2011, we published the Indiecision Guide to Upcoming Releases 2011 . In the guide, we listed (claimed) release dates of upcoming albums and EPs of Indian indie artists. We earlier reported the dates of the Storm Festival to be held at an unnamed location near Coorg, home to the cancelled Tamara Confluence . With a revamped website , the festival recently announced a first lineup of artists who will be performing at the event, still leaving the option of suggesting a DJ and/or a band open to fans. Tickets will go on sale sometime in mid-September. New Delhi Hindi pop rock band Faridkot are releasing their debut album 1 on January 20. The band recently signed to Times Music and their CDs will be in stores soon. They're previewing three songs from the new album on their ReverbNation - 'Laila', 'Meherban' and 'Khel Khel Mein' - songs that the band have been playing live for quite a while now. New Delhi Hindi-rock band Faridkot will release their debut album 1 on Jan 20, 2011 at Hard Rock Cafe, Delhi. The band recently signed to Times Music and will be releasing their music on this label. At 3pm on December 12, day three of the Bacardi NH7 Weekender , New Delhi band Projekt S played a short set to open The Dewarists Stage. The band is comprised of Advaita members Suhail Yusuf Khan and Aman Singh Rathore, along with singer-songwriter Donn Bhat. They were followed by Hindi rock act Faridkot who played a five-song set after their slot was advanced by half an hour. The Great Indian Octoberfest is barley major Kingfisher's three-day beer-music jaunt in Bangalore. This year's edition will be hosted at the Palace Grounds between Oct 22-24. The South Asian Bands Festival is an annual music festival held in New Delhi. Organised by the Ministry of External Affairs and Seher, the three-day affair sees bands from the SAARC countries perform at the Purana Qila in the capital. RSJ's other big October gig Rocktoberfest returns for its sixth edition this year at the end of the month. Rocktoberfest, which is usually a series of pub gigs, takes a more conventional festival form this year. The three day affair at the Garden of Five Senses in New Delhi sees two stages and a club gig every night. Last month, the Eastwind festival organisers promised that they were "going to be dedicating 40% of the slots for international acts" Over 40 acts performed at Eastwind '08 . The Soundpad album is now in record stores proving that it is actually possible to complete an Indian rock project on schedule. We'll be checking to see how many of these acts deliver their CDs on time: Soulmate's Moving On will be out on June 11, and next month should also see the release of an album by Teddy Boy Kill. The Supersonics' debut has now been rescheded to July, while Them Clones's forever-in-the-making Love.Hate.Heroes will "drop" in August. The final Launchpad elimination gig was held at the Blue Frog on Monday, Feb 9. The four remaining bands in the competition participated for the final three slots. With Cassini's Division and Faridkot being almost shoe-ins for two of those three, it was up to Reverse Polarity or The Circus to step up their game and make it to the final. The second gig at the Blue Frog for Channel V Launchpad III saw five bands battle it out playing two original songs each in front of a jury that consisted of Vishal Dadlani, Bobby Talwar and Raghu Dixit. The gig was held on the morning of Feb 5, which meant that very few people showed up to audience.
