"It's blessing just to be here, especially when there's weed here." It's been a little bit since we got new music from Kyle Lucas. Well, the wait is over. Kyle's got a new EP coming this week, and kicks things off with "Cut Me Down". The song's upbeat rhythm matches Lucas' message, which is one of smelling the roses, even if others are picking at'em. Grab it below, and check out our interview with Kyle right here .

It hardly surprises me that South Carolina's All Get Out has found a home with Atlanta-based Favorite Gentlemen Recordings . The band appears to be a strong disciple of the same Southern pop rock that the label's powerhouse, Manchester Orchestra, has been championing since their breakout debut, I'm Like A Virgin Losing A Child . Frontman Nathan Hussey's voice is undeniably reminiscent of Andy Hull's too. But you can tell after listening to their latest single, "Lucky Bastard," that there's something a bit different about All Get Out. Perhaps it's the peppy [...]

Things have been pretty quiet in the Death On Two Wheels camp for quite some time now; with the exception of an occasional Twitter or Facebook post, the band has kept any future plans under wraps. But as it turns out the group has spent the past several months locked away writing and demoing new songs. Next month, they will enter the studio to begin recording their second album, which will be released via Favorite Gentlemen . Before doing so, however, they wanted to test out some of the new material, play a few shows, and let [...]

Manchester Orchestra debuted new song "Virgin" last night and it's another hard-hitting gem from the band. For fans that thought that title track "Simple Math" might have been a bit tame, this more than makes up for any fans wanting their tracks to have a decidedly aggressive feel to it. Adding children group vocals to this, adds an eerie overlay. This is possibly the darkest, the band has ever sounded. I simply cannot wait until May 10th, when Simple Math , is released onto the world through Favorite Gentlemen. Virgin [...]
I know next to nothing about this band. What I do know is that the lead singer, Trey, may indeed be as young as he looks and that I discovered them them on the ATL Yeah! sampler that Favorite Gentlemen set up for SXSW. That's about it. I loved this track - "Cowboy Movies" - on that sampler and it seems to me they would be a nice fit on the Fav Gents label. I don't know if the mix in this video does the song justice, but I'm gonna put it out [...]

SXSW kicks off as I type. I am still here at home in the ATL but far finer elements of Atlanta will be represented in Austin, Texas. If you're on your way to SXSW from points in Georgia or elsewhere, several must see Atlanta bands are headed to Austin. The best Atlanta based event will likely be ATL Yeah! Organized by Jeremiah of the Favorite Gentlemen crew, ATL Yeah! is a free event from Noon and 7pm on Friday at the Red Fez. The nine band line up will feature some of our [...]

Recently, Jeremiah Edmond, head of Favorite Gentlemen ( Manchester Orchestra , Kevin Devine , O'Brother and more), approached Latest Disgrace and many other local blogs and music entities in an effort to put together a list of Atlanta artists that were representative of Atlanta's vibrant and diverse music scene for a new compilation to be released under the collective ATL: Connective banner. The result is ATL Yeah!</strong, a 40-track collection featuring some of Atlanta's finest acts. The comp is available now as a free download from the ATL Yeah! website . [...]

How could Manchester Orchestra get any better? By adding Kevin Devine to their line-up, of course. Well, Mr. Devine hasn't joined the band as a permanent member, but rather teamed up with Hull and co. to form a new project: Bad Books . Bad books sounds pretty much like you would expect them to. Think the louder side of Kevin's catalog mixed with a hint of folk and the Southern-tinged, minimalist rock of the Orchestra. It's safe to say that if you like either of the sides in this project, you're going to enjoy Bad [...]

The moniker Manchester Orchestra ( MySpace ) uses is a bit deceiving. It hints at something one part British and one part orchestrated. Yet Manchester Orchestra is neither. Instead, the group features one of the catchier, however, more mainstream-ish sounds in independent full-fledged rock. One of my favorite tunes off Manchester Orchestra's sophomore release, Mean Everything To Nothing , out April 21 (next Tuesday), is "Shake It Out". It has a catchy chorus, catchy verse phrases, and a wonderful little breakdown... what you'd probably label as the [...]
