Every day since we decided to post our top 10 favorite songs of ALL TIME, I have kept a piece of paper with me and throughout the day I would write down a song that came to mind. Erasing my whole “pop-punk” phase (Taking Back Sunday would probably be the only thing on my list), this assignment was pretty easy. Yes, you are probably amazed that my list isn’t a combination of Michael Jackson, Justin Timberlake and a dash of Beyonce, but honestly those artists would have their own top 10 lists. I absolutely hate the question of "What is [...]
This week on Tracking – a regular series in which we discuss our current favorite songs – you can listen to additions from Vampire Weekend, Savages, Postiljonen and Annie . Vampire Weekend - "Ya Hey" Rather than comically covering Outkast’s generation-defining anthem in reverse, Vampire Weekend’s stomp-along “Ya Hey” instead takes on a completely different, even more surprising task – reenacting one of the most memorable scenes in the Old Testament. In Exodus 3:14, when Moses famously [...]

When James told us about his idea to do a post on our 10 favorite songs I was immediately excited. Ten minutes later I was terrified, and about a day later I was defeated. Since then, I've realized that your favorite song isn't supposed to be a tattoo on your personality, they can change as your life experiences change. If you're favorite songs have been your favorite songs since you were 10 years-old there's a pretty good chance your favorite songs suck. You should evolve and change your opinions as you grow as a person. So, these aren't my favorite [...]

Last week, we were lounging around like the cool guys that we are and we came to discussing our favorite songs of all-time. Our personal favorites, not the same generic Top 10 lists you see in every music magazine ever. We decided to turn it into a series of posts this week in which each music contributor to the site has a day to highlight their favorite tracks of all time. I'm up first, let's do this. 10. "Mr. Jones" - Counting Crows Growing up as a '90s baby, this [...]

Favorite Songs of 2012: Part 2 (50-1) You will have to take these list rankings with a grain of salt, because although I tried my best to accurately arrange the tracks, I change it every time I listen to one of the songs. I also only included my favorite song from each artist, so there are no doubles (except for I think one person, but they were part of two different groups). A few songs are also technically from before 2012, but they all appear on albums or [...]

Ordered alphabetically 'cos honestly I couldn't really discern where to rank every track on this list but be clear "Adorn" by Miguel was pretty much my favorite song of the year and Jean Grae and Scrufizzer : you both blew my mind with your tracks. So what does this list say about The Kitchen and music in 2012? I wouldn't want to speak definitively to those questions (others, feel free to weigh in with your own thoughts in the [...]

![[Favorite Song of 2012] Carousel: Let’s Go Home](http://cdn.elbo.ws/posts/4695994_lg.jpg)
My favorite song for 2012 was a bit of a challenge I won't lie. We were blessed with a year of great music and very talented musicians. In the end, I went with the one track that became my perfect escape throughout the year. Warm and soothing electro-pop with a bright shimmer to clear away the haze of a stressful day or make a lazy afternoon with friends even better. Carousel's 'Let's Go Home' is my favorite song of 2012. You may also [...]

2012 will be forever remembered as the year of the gun. Violence is escalating, tempers are flaring and not matter what side of the aisle you stand on, you have to agree something needs to be done. As a resident of Colorado, we have seen firsthand from Columbine to the Aurora movie shootings that our society is declining. Our moral compass is lost and we need to cling to our faith, love or whatever you put your stock in and hold your family/friends tight. Colorado also benefited from two of the biggest things to hit our area [...]

This year I was impressed with a bunch of new tracks. It is REALLY hard for me to narrow it down to a TOP TEN! Instead, I narrowed it down to a TOP 25. As you can see, my taste is quite all over the place. Check it out. Anita Baker - Lately Little Boots - Headphones Alabama Shakes - I Ain't The Same Madonna - I'm Addicted Sky Ferreira - Everything Is [...]
