Here we are again, home from The Great Escape , it sure has come around quickly! Fear of Men "Ritual Confession" This is a song which is apparently based on the relationship between Jean Paul Sartre and Simone de Beauvoir that asks the listener to cheerfully sing along with the line "hell is other people though," and I say: Yes. This is a wonderful mixture of breezy melody and slightly unnerving lyrical imagery, with singer Jessica Weiss casually tossing off phrases like "the taste of blood you read about" like it's all innocent lines from a childhood diary. It got off to a good start when we found there was actually a shuttle that came near to our hotel and meant late night night time returns were no longer a problem. Take Me To The Sea is probably something of an ill-timed sentiment if you're currently holed up in England, as it'd surely be as bitterly miserable on the island's fringes as it is here inland.
