L'Etrager is a clearly a man who loves everything French. He's been getting a lot of love for his French touch productions, and not only that he's a bit of a romantic. He's releasing his next single to coincide with Valentines day - which were reliably informed is today. As the title suggests this is a love song, but by no means a conventional one. The beginning quote; from the french writer Albert Camus (where L'Étranger takes his name from), talks about how love starts as a comedy, progresses into much more of a drama, and ends as [...]

Jacques Renault is one of the leading lights of the disco house scene in New York. You might have remembered one of his first tracks exposed here on Salacious circa fall of 2010 with his super remix of "Beam Me Up" by Midnight Magic. He comes from a very musical background, having started off learning classical music in Washington DC playing violin and the viola, adding trumpet and guitar into the fray in the teenage years. The multi-instrumentalist moved to NYC in 2002. There [...]
Jacques is well and truly back. The super producer has been silent for 8 years under his Jacques Lu Cont guise, but he's really making a comeback at the moment - we've had 'Reload,' 'Church' and now for what he does best: remixes. He's taken his well-trained electronic wand to the new Miike Snow track 'Paddling Out'. Turning a relatively tame track into something that could easily slay and dance floor.
With releases on Delsin, Styrax Leaves and Music Man, the behind the mask has had huge success in mainland Europe. Apart from living hin Germany not much else is known about who Redshape is, as he wears the mask even at live dates, however his music speaks for itself. His hard hitting techno vibes have graced many a dancefloor and mixtape over the last few years and 2012 sees his first release
The Penelopes are one of a handful of male-led pop duos that we think don't sound like they just crawled out the Simon Cowells rear-end. The Parisian duo, now based in London, are planning to release the follow-up to their first album 'The Arrogance Of Simplicity', which was release on Vitalic's label no less. So far we had the immense 'Now Now Now' which caught our ear with the C902s remix. Well today, we've got their next single and its been remixed by Leeds disco don Edwin Van Cleef. 'Sally In The Galaxy' is a full-fat piece [...]

"VIOLET BONES are a rock 'n' roll band from Cambridge — packing an incredible amount of passion, energy, animation and spirit into their sing-along garage-pop anthems. Their fierce DIY ethic and constant touring across the UK has earned them support slots with punk heroes New York Dolls and Ash". Great band on the verge of a debut album release, it`s nice to receive the odd promotional email concerning an artist that will be gigging somewhere near to home. Sure Los Angeles, New York or Sydney all have masses of iconic appeal but The Grinning Rat [...]
"Four dudes raised by alcoholic wolves. Fast rhythms and sweet melodies. Loud mouths. Leather jackets. Last spotted without t-shirts. Stripped down, New York-styled garage rock and roll that pays tribute to the punk and power-pop movement of the late 19702s. This debut album is for those who like to shake and pogo". Picture a steaming night at the Marquee , Soho, London circa 1978, New Wave/Punk kids bouncing of the walls to an amphetamine induced tantrum, a fabulous image from exciting times for pre-digital guitar based music. French wonder-kid Yuksek is back with another killer remix, this time it's for Tel Aviv electro pop duo The Young Professionals and their track 'Disco' which was released last summer, and famously contained a sample of Ottawan's 802s anthem D.I.S.C.O. Yuksek scrapes away the cheese, adds some driving drums, drenches the vocal in reverb as he builds to an impending theatrical crescendo - eventually you get there and all hell breaks loose. And if you haven't done so already check out his remix for De La Soul side project First Serve.
18 year-old producer Charlie Banks stepped out with a huge debut EP last week, more than justifying the buzz that follows him. As well as making beats, Charlie also DJs and runs his own very successful night in Bournemouth called Hit The Deck. Charlie Banks - Saying What [Dirt Crew Recordings] The Saying What EP, released by Dirt Crew, features three fresh tracks by Charlie plus two
Kavinsky has just teased a new track 'RoadGame' from his debut album - it has everything we love about French electro all bundled into three minutes of joy. Theatrical synths, big keys, crisp drums, and, most importantly, presence.
Long before Vito did his Aeroplane compilation the go-to guys were Mighty Mouse and their fantastic Disco Circus compilation, now, in its third year the London disco dons Mighty Mouse has announced that the third edition is ready for release. To get you super excited about the new compilation, they're giving away the ridiculous psychedelic 'Smiling Faces'. The compilation's tracklist is under lock and key and is being protected by Stuart Little, a mice not to be messed with. But our spies reckon you can expect tracks from Oliver, Gigamesh and The Magician. File under: [...]
One of our favourite debut albums from last year was the Arnaud Rebotini-produced Rafale album 'Obsessions' - well they've decided to give it a lick of remix paint for 2012 and are giving away the remixes album for free. Last night Nile Rodgers revealed in a online interview that he was going to be meeting Daft Punk to discuss their 4th studio album, with the two electronic pioneers wanting to experiment with R&B and funk for their next album. Now, if this turns out to be true then it would probably be the most important music news of 2012 - and from what Nile has posted on his blog today it would appear to be true as he is meeting our two favourite robots in New York today. Nile said on his blog: "Today I'm [...]
Punks Jump Up have done a splendid remix of Ladyhawke's 'Black, White & Blue' its full of happy keys, gleaming synths and they keep the vocal almost intact to create a powerful piece of hands-in-the-air disco. Out February 19 via Modular.
Jesper Ryom first caught our eye during a late-night YouTube session when we stumbled upon the brilliant 'Nature Boy' from last year. We were curious of how such a talent had slipped completely under the radar for us, and wanted to know more about this young Danish talent. We asked if he'd like to record a mix for us and answer a few questions, and being the lovely fella he is, he said "ja" (

The two grew up together in Colorado and have been playing music together for the last six years. Songs are written around Smith's hypnotic guitar work and soft vocals, and fleshed out with Herron's piano and keys". A superb mix of ambient electrolica and cosy Folk, `The Wounded Beat` portrays a picture of overwhelming calmness, the eight track long player summons wide open spaces and infinite social wilderness. I adore the promotional photo above, [...]
