London-based Stay Bless have just released their first single, "Always," on 37 Adventures (who brought you Pale's wonderful " Too Much .") "Always" is a stunning, symphonic pop number that "utilises emotional honesty as its key instrument," or so says the band, and we couldn't agree more. The muted, blurry video is the perfect complement to the warmth and thickness of the track. Have a watch above, and get ready for Stay Bless to start asserting themselves into a seemingly endless crowd of breathy, stirring synth-driven pop from across the Atlantic. STREAM: [...]

Jazz. Soul. Rock. Pop. It's not often that artists can weave their way through such seemingly diverse genres and emerge with music that's both fresh and exciting. As far as mainstream goes, only Mute Math comes to mind. Hopefully, after their debut track "Relapse" makes the rounds, Twin Wave will join their company. The Brooklyn outfit have been described as "psychedelic synth pop," but their music is far more than that. "Relapse" is actually quite reminiscent of Mute Math; it's music that's pleasant on the ears while also indicative of technical skill. That's not something you see much of [...]

The queens of alt-pop - Marina & The Diamonds and Charli XCX - join forces on a new collaborative track "Just Desserts." It goes without saying that a track bearing these two ladies' names is a mandatory listen. They've gone ahead and made it available as a free download, which you can grab below. MP3: Marina And The Diamonds & Charli XCX - "Just Desserts"

Thee Oh Sees haven't always been the band you see today. The psych-rock stalwarts began as the one-man side project of John Dwyer and over the next decade slowly evolved into its current four-member iteration, changing names five times along the way. One thing that has been constant about The Oh Sees, however, is their tendency to put out good music. For their latest venture, Thee Oh Sees have teamed up with Adult Swim and a handful of garage rock heavy hitters for Garage Swim . The compilation album features tracks by Mikal Cronin, King [...]

I never felt like the movies got it right when it came to voluntary submersion. As far as I can tell, jumping fully clothed into a pool always signals either whimsical sexiness or face-numbing depression, but sometimes you just want to chill and reflect under the water. If you agree and happen to be in the process of soundtracking a major motion picture, have I got a treat for you: J A W S . Don't worry, you can stay in the water; this UK band gets their name from the Bond villain rather than anything out of Spielberg's [...]

You have to give credit where credit is due. There is a lot of up and coming talent in Washington D.C. at the moment and we are thrilled to premiere a track from the District's own Caleb L’Etoile . His remix of fellow DC natives Misun ’s “Promise” offers a lighter, more uptempo take on the trio’s “aquawave” sound. Taking cues from UK garage, the track builds gradually, tapering down the on-bass and adding beat-skipping kick drum and synth. Chopped up and time shifted samples of Misun’s vocals are woven instinctually throughout the track. The end result is [...]

Last month we featured Aussie electropop singer Betty Who 's debut EP, The Movement , which Popjustice went on to call the best of 2013. Now we're excited to premiere the first solo release from Peter Thomas , the production mastermind behind that record. On this glowing remix of Phoenix's "Entertainment," Thomas hints at a new musical direction, transcending his formidable pop pedigree to broach dreamwave and indie disco territory. The 22-year-old producer wraps Thomas Mars' vocal in a swirl of punchy drums, synth stabs and lush, pulsating pads, building toward a [...]
IYES have followed up their impressive debut single, " Glow ," with a new instrumental number, "Daddy." The Brighton duo channel retro-reaching producers like Kavinsky to create a dark, electronic monolith of a track that could easily have found a home on the Drive soundtrack. You can stream it above or snag a download via the link below in exchange for an email address. MP3: IYES - "Daddy (Demo)" [via IYES]

If our love for Chris Malinchak 's "So Good To Me" knew any bounds , this cover of the track from The 1975 has surely torn them down. Recorded in studio during their visit to Radio 1, the Manchester outfit keep their subdued take to just keys and minimalist percussion. We like what we hear. Download a copy below. The 19752s self-titled debut LP comes out this September via Vagrant / Dirty Hit . MP3: Chris Malinchak - "So Good To Me (The 1975 Cover)"

Two Door Cinema Club. Vampire Weekend. Jinja Safari. You're a fan, right? Then Glass Towers should be your cup of tea. Their latest single, "Jumanji," is a tropical, guitar-laden number that bears the mark of the aforementioned artists. The track actually came out in their native Australia last year, but will be included in the re-release of their debut Collarbone Jungle EP , which should hopefully give the band a proper introduction to the rest of the world. Stream it below, and keep an eye out for their debut LP this September. [...]

As we mentioned earlier today , Victoria Bergsman (dba Taken By Trees ) just released "Only You" as a single last week along with with a sensual new video . Accompanying those two is a warm remix of the track courtesy of relatively-unknown L.A. producer Belief . The remix gives the track more of a backbone while sounding like a blend of The Blow and Gold Panda, chopped up by Star Slinger. Listen to it below and grab a copy of Other Worlds , released last October via [...]

Ty Segall has been called a “garage-punk prodigy” and a “San Francisco psych wunderkind,” an “ultra-prolific” “lo-fi rocker” with a “distinct talent for crafting really catchy vocal hooks.” Today though, he set aside those catchy vocals, kicked his lo-fi vibe into overdrive and teamed up with fellow Californians Chad & The Meatbodies to create a split benefit single. Segall’s half of the split, “Music For A Film 1,” is a classic rock’n’roll-gone-wild instrumental with heavily layered percussion and incremental gnarly guitar shredding that proves as well as refutes the many monikers of this Bay Area “living legend.” [...]
Considering how cinematic their album teaser was, anything short of a sci-fi epic for an Empire of the Sun music video would be a disappointment. Thankfully, the Sydney duo doesn't let us down in their video for "Alive," the debut single off their sophomore album, Ice On The Dune . Follow Luke Steele and Nick Littlemore as they traverse the most epic of biomes, awakening slumbering future babes along the way. Confused? Just watch it above. STREAM: Empire Of The Sun - "Alive"

We had the chance to ask Dale Earnhardt Jr. Jr. some questions before they tore things up at the Rock and Roll Hotel here in DC last Thursday. Read what the Detroit duo had to say - including their thoughts on the new EP, 2013 so far and the lost art of trying a bow tie - after the jump. Dale Earnhardt Jr. Jr.'s Patterns EP is out now on Warner Bros . STREAM: Dale Earnhardt Jr. Jr. - "If You Didn't See [...]
On the 31st of December 2012, after decades of sending radio waves into space, astronomers received a strange signal from the Alpha Centauri system. What at first appeared to be a random stream of tones and pulses gradually resolved into a complex pattern, that while alien, seemed eerily familiar. Dubbed "Silverstar" the signal was sent to research teams worldwide, for further analysis. ...or so goes Silverstar 's bio, a two-man production team hailing from down under. The Australian duo's debut single, "Music Is Magic," is just about everything you can ask for in dance music. Sure [...]

Daughter 's got a sound that's familiar - their album is a consistent mix of Local Natives instrumentation and Rhye vocals floating in the sad Bon Iver sea - but surprisingly malleable in new contexts. The UK-based trio can translate anywhere from ultra-spare (as in their live mashup of " Perth/Ready for The Floor ") to lush and explosive (as in this remix of " Medicine ," which has become a vital part of my daily I'm Starving, Feed Me Beats musical mood swing). This weekend, Daughter covered Daft Punk's already ubiquitous "Get Lucky" for BBC [...]
Last October, Victoria Bergsman (The Concretes, Peter Bjorn & John) released her third studio LP, Other Worlds , under her solo project moniker, Taken By Trees . Inspired by a vacation Bergsman took to Hawaii, the LP's latest single is “Only You,” a posterchild for tropicalia featuring plenty of steel drums and slide guitar. The video for the track, on the other hand, provides a jarring visual contrast; released just last week, it features a blindfolded Bergsman amidst a number of carnally engaged couples. Sensual and surprising. Watch it above. [...]

LA-duo Classixx continue to stoke interest for their upcoming debut album, Hanging Gardens , with another excellent track, "Borderline". Subdued, shy and somewhat melancholic, "Borderline" plays the emotional counterpart of A-side " Holding On ," fading pensively where "Holding On" jumps up and shakes. Steady, plucking synths provide a warm but distant background for Jesse Kivel's ( Kisses ) vocals, which match the environment perfectly. Hanging Gardens will be released via Innovative Leisure May 14th, though "Hanging On" and "Borderline" are available as a [...]
Start your weekend off right with a new video from London trio Is Tropical that's guaranteed to put you in the mood for getting weird. This profoundly NSFW clip is bizarre and amusing from the get-go, yet manages to steadily heighten its absurdity until the bitter end. By roughly the four minute mark, it's become a bold exercise in very graphic and completely untethered fantastical hilarity. Watch it above. Oh, and it's a good song.
