Feist shared the note below along with the music video for Graveyard in celebration of Day of the Dead. Thursday, November 1, 2012 10:32 am I'm not talking about the Graveyard as a location, but of the entangled thoughts you get when visiting a graveyard. Usually you're there to visit someone who's died, and you think in broad terms about what they've become and your own mortality and about what time means. We're alone in the field, always at a distance. And people appear and disappear from your life. [...]

Almost a year since her latest album Metals was released, Feist is still giving us videos to salivate over. "Anti-Pioneer" is the fourth video from the album, and the third this year after "Bittersweet Melodies" , "The Bad In Each Other" , and "How Come You Never Go There" , not counting the video she did with Mastodon for their split 73 single. It's [...]
A dark week for music videos! For whatever reason, this is the week that everyone's decided to perfect their death-stares and document their shit-smashing capabilities. That applies, in one way or another, to four of the five videos this week, as well as the Norah Jones and Liars videos that just missed this countdown, as well as that video where Mr. Blonde beats the shit out of Justin Bieber . It's summer, everyone! The Olympics are happening! Crack a beer! Relax! Our picks are below. Read More...

Remember Feistodon , the split-single that featured Mastodon covering Feist , and Feist covering Mastodon released for Record Store Day? Well, for those who were panicked because the record sold out, it is now available digitally . Along with the release of the digital record is an interactive video for "A Commotion," the song which Mastodon chose to cover Feist. Fiddle with the mixer and crossfade between both versions set along to the video below.

Feist and Mastodon released a split 73 back on Record Store Day. Obviously combining both names, Feistodon did each one of each other's songs on the split. (One of the coolest RSD releases this year, my opinion.) Feist did a dark, mystical cover of "Black Tongue" , Mastodon's first single from 20112s The Hunter . Mastodon , which seem about as far away musically as it gets, did a cover of "A Commotion" [...]

Double cover day thanks to Record Store Day ! Mastodon take on Feist , and Feist take on Mastodon in what they (amazingly) decided to bill Feistodon . Feist's cover of "Black Tounge" has all the attitude of a metal song, just without the heavy . Taking the thickly disorted, layerd originally and stripping it down to its rhythmic bones. It almost sounds broken, but that's really the charm of it. Something about the jangly instruments and intermediate blasts of static really lends itself to the dark and [...]

Feistodon , the split 7" from Feist and Mastodon for this year's Record Store Day is now available to hear in all of its indie/metal glory. Check out Feist covering Mastodon's "Black Tongue" and Mastodon covering Feist's "A Commotion" below. Read more »

Enjoy.

Feistodon is the 73 split EP that's being released for Record Store Day which features Mastodon covering Fiest's "A Commotion" from here 2012 release Metal and Feist covering Mastodon's "Black Tongue" from their 2012 release The Hunter . Listen to both cover tracks below as well as the originals to compare them to. It's a pretty remarkable feat by both acts to transform the other's into a viable cover song that sounds like it could have been written by them.

Doubtless Record Store Day , as with any no; absolutely every institutionalised day of celebration, has its pros and cons. Its primary pro I would contend, what with black wax now rendered omnipresent, clamoured for and consequently a touch extortionate (another debate for another time further from Friday perhaps), stems from its capacity to re-inform and remind – or alternatively inform and educate – the glaringly obvious: that every vinyl is, as 88 Fingers Louie would put it, a "two-faced bastard". There's a wealth of possibility within the split 7" concept that's largely been neglected over the past little [...]

Record Store Day is tomorrow and we can now hear one of the most intriguing projects that will be released that day. Feist and Mastadon as unbelievable as it sounds, each recorded a cover of the other act’s songs, to interesting results. The Feist cover of Mastadon’s “Black Tongue” is all sorts of grimy and gritty, and we get to hear Leslie like never before. I find Mastadon’s take on Feist’s “A Commotion” to be more humorous than anything. I think the cover art, might be favorite thing about this. FEISTODON.
Listen to Feist and Mastodon 's split 73 single below, released for Record Store Day 2012 . If there were ever a collaboration you wouldn't see coming, this would definitely be one of them, almost two polar opposites of the musical world covering a song of each other's. Canadian Feist takes on Mastodon's "Black Tongue" in a more Mastodon fashion than Feisty, taken from last year's album "The Hunter" , whilst the metal guys from Atlanta, [...]

While some people get excited about St. Patrick's Day or Fat Tuesday, around these parts there is another "unofficial" holiday that, if you haven't already noticed, we like to geek out about and that's Record Store Day . The annual celebration of independent music stores , which is celebrating its fifth anniversary, features scores of exclusive releases specifically made to be put out this Saturday. While we detailed some of those yesterday , and we've got a list of our favorite RSD releases coming later today, the one that I've got my eyes on is [...]
