One thing Cincinnati isn't probably known for is dirty punk rock (no offense to Cincy Punk Fest, which is great.) I've heard about The Fest for years but never made the trek to Gainesville, Florida. For those who are similarly uninitiated, Fested: A Journey to Fest 7 provides a feet-on-the-street trip through Fest 7 (2008), a weekend-long " big, drunk, punk rock, bearded, tattooed family reunion ". This year marks the 10th anniversary of the MidPoint Music Festival here in Cincinnati, and as we noted on Twitter this morning, the initial artist lineup for this years festivities will be announced today. We love the Old Settler's Fest every year. Even when it gets a little too Austin-hippie jam band for us, there are rarely events that are as chilled out and friendly and that compile such top notch talent in a relatively small area. It's that time again for my favorite Phoenix DIY punk/hardcore fests. Granted, there aren't a lot of those competing with Sundown Showdown , but I'd find it hard to beat even if there were.
