Governors Ball doesn’t really feel like a festival. Maybe it’s the fact that none of the sets overlap, something that has it’s merits and issues, but most likely it’s the fact that for many of us, we go home at the end of the night. There's no camping, no wild late-night partying (of course, they did have some wild after parties at Brooklyn Bowl), there’s your bed at the end of the night. The 2nd Annual Governors Ball Music Festival went down in style this past weekend on Randall’s Island in New York City. Governors Ball is about as straightforward as a festival can get: two stages, no overlapping sets, and an even split between electronic music on Saturday and alternative rock on Sunday. For its second installation, Gov. Ball relocated to Randalls Island on the upper end of Manhattan from its namesake outpost at the lower, which didn’t affect much in the way of attendance but unfortunately added more of a commute to the festival’s official afterparties at the Brooklyn Bowl (#firstworldproblems).
