If Beck-era "Sea Change" was actually written by Kevin Devine while he was high as hell and listening to a lot of Fiona Apple, he may've been Danny Malone. The Austin singer-songwriter just dropped the video for new single "Spiderlegs," a '90s-inspired piece showing Danny in his element -a barn where he actually resides and hosts a lot of shows- with just about everything a man would ever need: women, drinks, drugs, and a guitar. The low-lit scenes of Danny and his arm candy cutting lines and sipping from the bottle, kissed with jerky stop-motion and blurred out shots [...]
South by Southwest 2013 is almost upon us (like next week!), and at TGTF towers we are honing our scoop sniffing skills, polishing our camera lenses and preparing ourselves for a glut of musical goodness. So who can you catch in Austin that you haven’t seen paraded in front of you on MTV and the BBC? Well, probably no-one, but I’m going to point you in the direction of one of the shows I for one, would not be missing. (And best of all, it's absolutely free - along 2 other nights of outdoor music goodness.) [...]

Award season inches closer and closer and while we mostly focus on ceremonies like the Grammys, the Oscars also get our attention by way of the Best Original Song category. But 2013 will not be the year a rock band nabs a golden man as The Black Keys, Arcade Fire, and Mumford and Sons, among others, were snubbed in favor of songs from Skyfall and Les Miserables . With South By Southwest right around the corner, we spent the majority of our week getting majorly pumped up for all the performers to hit Austin — particularly those at our own Pray For Pop party at the Pure Volume House. But SXSW aside, there were plenty more developments in pop to chronicle in our weekly Pop & Fizz rankings. (Remember, we measure each artist or major news story according to their size, or "Rank", and then we weigh how they’re faring overall in the pop zeitgeist, or "Hype".) Head below to [...]
So you're probably wondering why it's taken me so long to write a preview of this year's South by Southwest festival (now to be described as SXSW from this point forward), held annually in Austin, Texas. And yes, your faithful editor will be there to catch as much of the action as humanly possible. For your information, tickets to the music portion of SXSW from Tuesday the 13th all the way [...]
