I'd like to think I have a fairly broad music taste. (I am a music critic after all, give me some credit please!) The lovely sibling duo of  First Aid Kit release their latest single for "Emmylou" from the upcoming sophomoric effort " The Lions Roar ," which will see daylight on January 23rd. The track pays homage to the groups favorite country musicians Emmylou Harris and June Carter. Enjoy the brilliantly 'Joshua Tree National Park' shot visuals above.

Back in 2008, the Swedish sister duo of Johanna and Klara Söderberg, who perform and record as the First Aid Kit , became indie-rock viral video sensations when they posted a clip of themselves in a forest, decked out in flannel, performing an enchanting acoustic version of the Fleet Foxes' Tiger Mountain Peasant Song. The video has since been viewed a staggering 2.6 million times. Swedish Folk duo First Aid Kit has been one of the more consistent fixtures on my headphones the last two years. They are getting ready to release their latest offering, The Lion's Roar , on January 24th in the States through Wichita Recordings . The clichéd notion of the difficult second album can often apply to bands, ones who overreach themselves and suffer what the Americans call a 'sophomore slump'. First Aid Kit is comprised of two Swedish sisters, Klara and Johanna Soderberg, from Stockholm. They first came to my attention back in 2008 when I found a video of their beautiful cover of the Fleet Fox's Tiger Mountain Peasant Song posted to YouTube. It saddened me that While the American Idol machine in the U.S. churned out forgettable names like Kris Allen and Lee DeWyze, this indie/folk duo, considerably much more talented than anything on shows like Idol and U.S Top 40 radio, were going largely under the radar. I finally have time to pick up the blogging mantle again! Apologies for my lack of posts. However, I can think of nothing better to kick off my return than this fantastic single from these Swedish siblings. 'The Lion's Roar' is both the lead single and name of their forthcoming LP. The girls seem to have moved on from the stark feel of last year's debut offering, The Big Black & The Blue . This may be due to the involvement of Mike Mogis on production duties.
