First Aid Kit made their national television debut in the U.S. with a lovely performance of 'Emmylou' from the duo's latest album ' The Lions Roar ' which also happens to be one of  our favorite releases of the year .  Watch the clip above.

First Aid Kit graced the televisions of many last night with a performance of "Emmylou" on Conan O'Brien's late night slot. The Swedish duo are a mesmerizing site and the performance can be enjoyed again and again courtesy of our good friends at The Audio Perv up at the top. Their sophomore LP The Lion's Roar is out now.

Swedish sisters Klara and Johanna Soderberg – better known by their stage name First Aid Kit – have never played Washington DC before, until late last month. Their first visit was thwarted by a freak accident: in October 2010 I saw Casiokids and Delphic play fun dance parties at DC9 and expected to see First Aid Kit the week after, but after a still unexplained death outside the club, the venue was shuttered for weeks and the girls were forced to cancel.   The Staves  are set to release their new Ep ' The Motherlode ' on April 22nd which will be a nice appetizer until we can get a full length project hopefully later this year.  If you have yet to see a show from the sisterly trio, let us be the first to highly suggest you do.  You can view the first offering and self titled single above.

The sisterly Swedish duo perform heartfelt, melancholic country songs, drenched in slide guitar and gorgeous Appalachian style harmonies. They released "The Lion's Roar," the eponymous single from their upcoming second album, back in November. Sweden's sister duo First Aid Kit couldn't have picked a better setting for their "Emmylou" video. Given the song title and their folk flavor, one's assumption that it might have to do something with Emmylou Harris would be correct. However, the song is also a tribute to artists such as Johnny Cash, June Carter and, of course, Gram Parsons. Parsons' liking for Joshua Tree National Park was no secret, but even after his unfortunate death nearby, the location's scenery has been a staple for a place of inspiration, especially for artists these days. First Aid Kit 's new video for track 'Emmylou' is more gorgeous evidence of the sisters' beautiful voices and spot-on songwriting. The song name-checks American country greats "Emmylou" Harris, "June" Carter Cash, "Gram" Parsons and "Johnny" Cash. They should all be very proud. Their new album 'The Lion's Roar' will be out on the 23rd of January. First Aid Kit have unveiled the official video for their brand new single 'Emmylou'. Set for release on 14th February via Wichita Records, the new single pays tribute to some of First Aid Kit's favourite country musicians including Emmylou Harris, Gram Parsons, June Carter and Johnny Cash, and was filmed in Joshua Tree National Park on Gram Parsons' birthday.
