Back in 2008, the Swedish sister duo of Johanna and Klara Söderberg, who perform and record as the First Aid Kit , became indie-rock viral video sensations when they posted a clip of themselves in a forest, decked out in flannel, performing an enchanting acoustic version of the Fleet Foxes' Tiger Mountain Peasant Song. Swedish Folk duo First Aid Kit has been one of the more consistent fixtures on my headphones the last two years. They are getting ready to release their latest offering, The Lion's Roar , on January 24th in the States through Wichita Recordings . The second album by Swedish sisters Klara and Johanna Söderberg was reorded with producer Mike Mogis in Omaha, Nebraska. 'Emmylou' is the follow up single to 'The Lion's Roar' from the record of the same name. As the name suggests it's a tribute to Emmylou Harris as well as June Carter and Johnny Cash - the video was made on Gram Parson's birthday in Joshua Tree National Park - cementing First Aid Kit 's expansion from harmonic alt-folk towards the emotion and soul of more country-music. Unamplified sing-along from last night; I was photographing for Brooklyn Vegan. They're super young sisters from Sweden, and like all Swedes, they love Bright Eyes. When they first got noticed by doing you tube covers of Fleet Foxes, they were 18 and 15 respectively.

  Lykke Li  brings her sweet melodic pop to the Ed Sullivan theater. Watch as she performs (with the backing vocals from   First Aid Kit  ,) a cut 'Silent My Song' from her latest Lp ' Wounded Ryhmes .' Enjoy the visuals above.

For her most recent appearance on US television, Lykke Li is joined the Söderberg sisters, Johanna and Klara, on backing vocals. The girls of course make up First Aid Kit , who are touring with Lykke Li as support around the States. Lykke Li was on David Letterman performing 'Silent My Song', the closing track off Wounded Rhymes , and her confidence is as striking as her dark Gothic silhouette with stunning harmonies and a capella.
