Check out the delightfully unsimple "Precipice," from Matthew Collings and Dag Rosenqvist's forthcoming EP Wonderland . It is a lurking, now incendiary thing that marches on with dark clockwork. Mind the serrated guitar and boot-kick percussion. Safety hazards, both. Muse regulars need no introduction to Collings, who has recorded under his given name and as Sketches For Albinos , and collaborated with Talvihorros and Convex Mancave . July 4 saw the completion of Christopher Hoffee's forthcoming Atom Orr release Galaxies With Long Yellow Curtains . This time around the candles on the cake are actually sparklers. Stream it below: Hoffee's hymnal baritone simply shrugs with longing, and the only thing keeping us from tossing an embrace around him is the mid-tempo piano riff. For a track that gently upbraids the digital culture, it comes with an interesting declaration of independence : "a new death of a medium is on its way. Bye-bye CD...you kinda sucked anyway." • Big Black Delta - Capsize

It's hard to tell if the counter-skeptics and X-Filers really are fooled by the Animal Planet presentation Mermaids: The Body Found , or if they're just having fun with a fun subject, but the crowing over the DOJ mockuseizure of websites such as http://believeinmermaids.com really makes us wonder. The closing credits clearly reveal the film to be a work of fiction ("any resemblance to real persons, living or dead" and all that), and the iMDb page lists three different writers. Concluding each successive Black Swan release, the listener could be forgiven for a slight tug of nostalgia. The story seems told in complete, both musically and thematically. Phil Elverum (The Microphones, P.W. Elverum & Sun) returns with another Mount Eerie release, Clear Moon . From the catalog listing : "Part one of a pair of records exploring a living place as a modern questioning person, walking around and looking at things for 80 or so years before disbanding back into dirt." From the Bandcamp: Irish composer Karl McGrath employs a unique approach to create beautifully constructed, and keenly observed emotional electro-acoustic pieces. Stream track #3 from the steady and breathcatching Paths , at page bottom. Olan Mill is Alex Smalley and Svitlana Samoylenko, and their instrumentation includes "guitar, violin, sampler and voice." Alex writes : "pieces were captured live over two performances and sewn together from the multitrack recordings.guitar, violin, sampler and voice." Facture will release Paths in May 2012, on vinyl, CD, and MP3 format.

Sung through a pulse jet and stripped down to the sub-bass, La Machine's "Twist & Shout" is one of those demos you'll hope the final version leaves as-is. Based in Leeds, La Machine is Lee Morris and Natalie Bolton. And if their white-noise percussion, atomized guitar, and stomping vocals don't wake industrial from that ten-year catnap, call the authorities. It's overdosed. Stream "Twist & Shout" just below. The anonymous talent behind the Black Swan alias has uploaded a cruelly short preview of the track "A Lesson In Slow Flight." Black Swan aficionado Ben Barrett submitted the title during an online contest. While the artist claims that analog mixdown of the new material is underway and that the results are "blissfully droning," the two-minute clip remains close to its now-familiar unorthodoxy. Yesterday Robin Pecknold of Fleet Foxes fame posted a new track to his Soundcloud page which he says is a "New demo, new song. Sadsack mode. Will probably change." Whether this track will go through any changes remains to be seen but one thing that is for sure is that the "Sadsack mode" is right on. "Olivia, In A Separate Bed" is a lovelorn and heartbreaking song.
