By Cat Schaupp April 30, 2013 Here at Muso's Guide, we got pretty stuck in to the build up for Record Store Day 2013 . In between vainly attempting to reduce our list of desired records from this year's releases down to a reasonable number, we got chattering away to record companies around the country about their involvement with the big day in the attempt to find out what life is like on the other side of the till. In addition to being a significant day for record stores wanting to increase their [...]

Dessa vez, por traz do codinome Future Heart Points , Waine Coyne escolheu regravar um clássico do rock progressivo, o álbum de estreia de King Crimson , In the Court of the Crimson [...]

Like anything and everything, Oklahoma's The Flaming Lips once occupied a quite definitive space in time; their extraterrestrial and ever outré genre mush of ultimate timelessness musical ensuring brains be kept jellified in joy whilst their elaborate live shows consistently salvaged biceps from premature burnout. Scribing subjectively, both The Soft Bulletin and Yoshimi Battles the Pink Robots proved formative records in incontrovertibly warping my perception of what could feasibly constitute good, bad and unsparingly ugly stuff sonic, and Wayne Coyne et al. have incontestably authored things to be bundled into each one [...]
The Flaming Lips party with their friends for this Record Store Day one-off. 2012, Warner Bros. / Lovely Sorts of Death 7.8 / 10.0 Before we head into this review, I should state that I’m reviewing the Record Store Day release version of this album and not the chopped [...]
As we reported last week, apparently Ke$ha is collaborating with her "idol" Iggy Pop for a song on her upcoming album. Our initial response to this was pretty much like everyone else's, involving a combination of the letters "W," "T," and "F," but the more we think about it, the more we're coming around to the idea that the track could actually be pretty great. After all, it's hardly the first pop/rock collaboration, and some of the results of pairing up pop singers and rock stars over the years have been thoroughly excellent. We've pulled together a few [...]

You might remember a few weeks back the Flaming Lips released a collaborative record called Heady Fwends on Record Store Day, featuring guest contributions from Ke$ha, Erykah Badu, Chris Martin, Nick Cave and more. As weird as that story was, it's only getting weirder from here on out. As part of the release of the project, ten limited edition pressings are being released for $2,500 each and each vinyl contains samples of blood from every artist involved on Heady Fwends . So that exists, and if that sounds like something you might be interested [...]

The Flaming Lips and Heady Fwends , the Oklahoma band's Record Store Day release, is an interesting piece of music. The Flaming Lips are known as experimental in their music and outspoken outside of music, so seeing their name next to Kesha and Chris Martin inspires a double take. Second looks aside, what you see is what you get from the collaborative album, which seemed to be the band finding the most unexpected names to work with them. That being said, as odd as it is to see The Flaming Lips and Kesha on the same song, it actually sounds [...]

Naked girls jumping, peeing, spraying colored smoke and doing all sort of crazy things, a disco ball, neon colors are just a part of the visual weirdness in The Flaming Lips' and New Fumes' new NSFW video for their absolutely matching song titled "Girl, You're So Weird". The track is a part of The Flaming [...]
Filed under: News Lyle A. Waisman, Getty Images It wasn't enough to play on The Flaming Lips and Heady Fwends , a star-studded limited-edition two-LP set the Flaming Lips will release this year as part of Record Store Day . To truly satisfy Wayne Coyne , the enduring indie band's kooky frontman, the album's numerous guest musicians will have to bleed for their art. As the NME repots, Coyne is hoping [...]

Oh God, I'm more excited now about Record Store Day , April 21st, than I was when we found out about the Bon Iver - THE FLAMING LIPS collaboration. Why? Because the gossip turning around the rumour mill was true. The Flaming Lips are making music with everyone's drunken guilty pleasure, Ke$ha. And here's the full track listing for the album, The Flaming Lips and Heady Fwends. Our very own psychedelic rockers Tame [...]

It will be released as a limited edition multi-vinyl set with two multi-colored 123 records placed in separate art jackets and bagged together. Mientras tanto, te dejamos con el video de "I Wanna Get High But I Don’t Want" . Como dato inútil, el disco fue grabado en la casa del propio Wayne.

Are you surprised that the Flaming Lips would already have plans set for next year's Record Store Day? It really shouldn't be all that shocking. Especially since this is the band that released a six-hour song and is planning on releasing a 24-hour song. Billboard spoke to Wayne Coyne who said that the band is creating a compilation featuring collaborations with artists they've already worked with including Neon Indian, Lightning Bolt and Prefuse 73. But what's more interesting are the upcoming collabs the band is readying. [...]
