For those of you who don't know the background to this album, I'll do you a brief potted history: When Nambucca (R.I.P.) changed hands and subsequently burnt down, the group who had been running it on a largely voluntary basis until that point (a group that includes none other than Mr Beans On Toast and The Real Dave Danger) set up home at The Flowerpot in Kentish Town, and have now moved their unique blend of friendliness and live music to The Wheelbarrow on Camden High Street. The Flowerpot Sessions is the second compilation to be released from Communion Records, the brainchild of son of Mumford Ben Lovett and his label partners Kevin Jones and Ian Grimble. Communion have announced they'll be releasing a new album this May, entitled The Flowerpot Sessions LP . The album, which stretches across 3 CDs and features the likes of Lissie, Angus & Julia Stone, Marcus Foster, and Sarah Blasko is a collection of collaborations recorded last Summer at the Flowerpot in Kentish Town. The Vaccines are a band that has been compared to The Jesus and Mary Chain and The Ramones. Their influences vary among "'50s rock 'n' roll, '60s garage and girl groups, '70s punk, '80s American hardcore, C86 and good pop music". I began my very first Secret Garden Party experience with a packed out show at the Where The Wild Things Are Stage, and the wild thing in question in this case was the amazing Beans On Toast - aka Jay, who runs the amazing Flowerpot venue in Kentish Town .
