The beat under this track may sound familiar, but you can rest assure that multi-genre mad man Flylo hasn't Lex Luger'd himself just yet. What we have here is an extended take of one of the most stand-out tracks from his 2008 EP, L.A. , entitled "RobertaFlack". Due to its percussive element, the essence of the track is still here, but there is a completely different mood and atmosphere associated. One may find themselves torn between the rivalry of these sibling songs; the classy, sophisticated and smooth vibe of "RobertaFlack" vs. the contrasting, clamorous and impulsive little [...]
Celebrating its fifth anniversary this year, Treasure Island Music Festival once again stole the hearts of many with its boisterous carnival themes, quirky booths, genre-appropriate weekend scheduling, and supremely thought-out set rosters. With each set staggered between the two extremely close stages, it was almost impossible to miss a show, allowing the festival goers to pick and choose which shows to attend or skip and quickly run to the nearest wine/beer booth. Day one focused on hip hop, electronica, and dance-pop genres; a day considered to most as the “wilder” day with chaotic crowds and costume-clad attendees. [...]
![[Introducing] – Fortune Howl](http://cdn.elbo.ws/posts/3795624_lg.jpg)
Tweet This is one of those rare occasions where I can't draw from a bag of artists to compare to because this one happens to be a cannonball of everything that embodies the now, which ironically means a unique composite of nostalgia and digital manipulation. Ladies and gents, the Mozart of bedroom synths and electro, I give you Fortune Howl . Some of Fortune Howl's, AKA Bryce Linde's work can be placed among someone like multi-media artist and 21st century recyclist Cory [...]

Label: Project Mooncircle Digital / Physical: Bandcamp / HHV On the artwork of KRTS first official release are a number of hands picking at his hair, I personally would like to go a little further and pick this guys brain for his tunes are deliciously constructed and executed in this fine EP released on Project Mooncircle. The Hold On EP opens with Love or Logic which floats between ambience, beats and jazz to a perfect degree. Then begins an utter mind boggling trip into [...]

Click image to download track Sounds like: Flying Lotus, eLan, Nosaj Thing "Pollyn - Cold Sweat" What's so good? We've seen Pollyn on here before, with the first leak for their upcoming album Living In Patterns . Now they have dropped a very interesting b-side in anticipation of the same project. Collaborating with MCs is something Pollyn has some experience with, previously [...]
Thundercat's debut full-length is a fantastically modernized tribute to the strain of jazz fusion that was coming out in the late 70s and early 80s. From George Duke to Jaco Pastorious, some of the genre's best and brightest musicians maintain a legacy through albums like this. Though I was a little disappointed by the overall length of some of these tracks-c'mon, two minutes-the style, musicianship, and production are all great enough to keep me coming back to this release again and again. Dutch producer Martyn has recently released Masks/Viper to precede his forthcoming full-length record, Ghost People, which is to be released through Flying Lotus's Brainfeeder label this fall. Martyn's 2009 debut LP, Great Lengths, was critically well-received and has gone on to be one of the most talked about electronic albums of the last few years. From these two singles, it seems as though Martyn as abandon his more unique, dub-influence approach to his music in favour of the seemingly [...]

Label-turned-distributor Kompakt recently unveiled the Will-O'-the-Wisp EP via Vlek Records by mysterious Belgian analog synthesizer lovers, Squeaky Lobster. There has been quite a bit of anticipation for this EP since April's Turkish Deligh 73 debut, and Will-O'-the-Wisp definitely delivers. A unique approach to the EP format, Squeaky Lobster includes only two discernible tracks on the release, but each track has been seamed into halves by interludes, thus making four tracks on the release in total (hence the song titles). [...]

If you're walking through the streets of L.A. and happen to hear "Thundercat" being thrown around in passing conversation, there is a good chance they could be talking about Lionel or Cheetarah, but being that the former have been irrelevant to American pop culture for the last twenty-eight years, there is an even better chance their talking about Stephen "Thundercat" Bruner. The L.A. native and bass virtuoso has been very busy since '06 as a live session and studio musician, running in various musical circles and working with the likes of Erykah Badu , Shafiq Husayn [...]

The American West Coast has become home to a new breed of music. Some people call it nu-jazz , others soul and others hip hop or deep house . Whatever genre it is, it's definitely a mashing of different styles that is helping to define a completely new sound. Flying Lotus has been the biggest name in this movement- his often schizophrenic version of hip hop has crossed borders and become well known in electronic, hip hop and indie circles. One of the labels also instrumental in this new, West Coast sound [...]

Two brand new tracks have appeared from Mr Fly Lo. Audio pleasure for you to enjoy. Flying Lotus - lullaby by Flyinglotus Flying lotus - heave (n) mix2 by Flyinglotus [[ This is a content summary only. Visit my website for full links, other content, and more! ]]

Flying Lotus is one of those producers that really are changing the way we hear music. Not only does he experiment with sounds and style, but each song always has a unique touch. This is why Flying Lotus has become adored by many people and fans quickly jump on anything new. The producer has been working hard most of his music career, dropping new tracks and last night he graced Soundcloud with two more. The songs "Lullaby" and "Heave(n) Mix 2" deliver and you'll want to have headphones on to appreciate these beats. Listen below. [...]
Flying dropped two tracks via SoundCloud just 11 hours ago as I'm writing this post. I assume they're new. It's not like the songs' respective "descriptions" leave us much to go on: "heave (n) mix23 description: "wevgouweowowweououyouw" "lullaby" description: "wegfwejjjkwjhhjhkjjh" Take those for what you will. As far as the sounds here go, they're colorful and abundant, which is to be expected. The same husky beats and swirling samples that have made this guy's recent work great are very prevalent on 'heave (n)." As far as I can tell, it's just another [...]

On Sam Baker's Album , Samiyam pulls together some pretty great grooves and sounds. My problem is not much of it moves or develops into anything interesting. This release is more like a sampler of various atmospheres this L.A. producer can create, and that's fine. Maybe it'll appeal more to beatmeisters and those who go into this LP looking for that kind of experience. WATCH THE REVIEW
