As a reported semi-recluse, Chairman Kato has successfully transferred a life of solace and self-reflecting into a five track EP, Wildfire . Apparently, Kato skulks about in the daytime, only to utilize the night for diligent music making. Pictures Music, which also houses Seams and Dark Sky, picked up Chairman [...]

There nothing better than heavy bass and hard hitting beats. So for this months volume of Foot Locker I have compiled a list of tracks that range from heavy dub-step to straight instrumental hip-hop. Not everything is brand new but its the best of the best and what's in my Ipod right now. Downloading 20 tracks individually is beyond annoying so I've also supplied a zip file below containing all the tracks plus a few bonuses. This compilation Is St8 Killa No Filla so don't be overwhelmed by its size, download the zip, take your time and enjoy [...]

Little Dragon live was easily one of the most exciting shows I've ever had the opportunity to experience. But first, let me tell you about the opening band, Billygoat . These three guys from Portland form a beautiful instrumental trio complimented by a self-made stop-motion projection animation show (which took 17 months [...]

Anyone who has seen Flying Lotus live knows that no matter what Moses or any stone tablet says, the Los Angeles based producer/DJ is a musical god. He's got a knack for finding untapped beauty in obscure tracks. Luckily for his listeners, Steve Ellison (aka Flying Lotus) has dropped [...]

Steven Ellison, aka Flying Lotus, is a Los Angeles electronic artist who is steadily becoming more well-known, playing events such as Hard Haunted Mansion. His style is very unique with abstract sounds combined with a jazz influence. Flying Lotus's video featured here is entertaining and very trippy. Big ups to my buddy Christiano for the suggestion and you can download the song in the video below! Enjoy. Flying Lotus- Mmmhmm (feat. Thundercat) SPREAD THE LOVE.SHARE THE WEALTH. It seems that Los Angeles' own, Steven Ellison aka Flying Lotus , has created for himself a whirlwind of a year upon promotion of the release of both a hit record ( Cosmogramma ) and 8-bit heavy EP ( Pattern+Grid World ) and a touring stint with Radiohead frontman (whom Ellison has garnered much praise from) Thom Yorke's solo project Atoms For Peace . FlyLo's last video for "Kill Your Co-workers" off of the Pattern+Grid World EP was a mesmerizingly vivid delineation of a parade gone horribly wrong, but the trippy LSD-ed out visuals for the Cosmogramma cut [...]

here's the latest trippy video from Flying Lotus' Cosmogramma album. fittingly presented by Adult Swim

A Los Angeles native, Jason Chung, also known as, Nosaj Thing , has been steadily making progress rising up out of the underground electronic music scene. Inspired by the Hip-Hop radio stations, that his elementary bus school driver would play on his way to school, and the rave scene involving drum and bass, Chung figured out how to use his father's old PC to start making music. His primitive ways, on an old PC, eventually evolved into his very unique style and progressive-experimental sound. Chung's use of beat pads to trigger loops are the basis of his sets, [...]

Flying Lotus is a freaking beast. This remix of his track Pie Face is an animal My Dry Wet Mess, takes a great track and murders it. enjoy

Dane Orr and Anna Wise are Sonnymoon, a pair of intergalactic musicians based out of Boston. Both grew up with music, Dane on the saxophone and Anna singing, which led them to the prestigious Berklee College of Music. That’s where they met and soon began to experiment with Anna’s dreamy jazz-inspired vocals over Dane’s nascent electronic compositions. They released [...]

Teebs (his real name Mtendere Mandowa), was an accomplished painter and skater before he ever picked up a sampler and attempted to make his own compositions. A resident of the Chino Hills suburb of L.A., he was inspired by weekly trips to the beat mecca that is Low End Theory downtown every Wednesday night. From there [...]

When your great-aunt and uncle are Alice and John Coltrane, you are bound to do great things in life. Them Jeans Live at The Do-Over Sept 19 2010 by Them Jeans Flying Lotus - Do The Astral Plane (Them Jeans Remix) [MP3]

New York's second annual Electric Zoo music festival was held September 4 and 5 on Manhattan's Randall's Island, bringing many of the worlds best DJs and producers to a total crowd of about 50,000. Headliners The Chemical Brothers capped off an incredible first day, featuring comfortable, sunny weather and an almost overwhelming array of great acts. We were also impressed by the grounds - the slate of top New York food trucks among other food options was a nice touch. We couldn't catch all 33 of the day's acts, but here's what we did [...]

More Shigeto Shigeto is the name you're gonna have to remember come November this year. His beats follow in the footsteps of fellow cosmic artists like FlyLo and Afta-1 but with his own distinct feel. His last EP Semi-Circle is an exploration of rolling synths and hand clap beats among other things - and he does love delving into the other things. On this, his latest release (and being offered as a free download by Ghostly International) he strides a line between ambient, electro, hip hop and anything else you can think of that doesn't bode [...]

Them Jeans aka Jason Stewart, possibly the tallest DJ/producer on the planet at 6 ft. 8 inches tall makes some superb remixes. Stewart is force behind the famous club night, Dim Mak Tuesdays at Cinespace which has featured the likes of Justice and Kid Cudi. He has also been featured in publications such as URB, Vapors, and XLR8R along with touring throughout North America and Europe. He has some standout remixes of the XX, the Yeah Yeah Yeah’s, and Major Lazer among others. [...]

On September 21st, Flying Lotus will release a new (and let's be real, probably awesome) EP titled Pattern+Grid World and I want to know how the hell this is possible. Clearly, he's just too talented. After releasing one of 2010's best LPs, Cosmogramma , it's hard to believe that the Californian producer could put out another solid batch of songs -- Pattern+Grid World is seven tracks long -- but then you hear "Camera Day" and slap yourself in the forehead. The EP's first single is [...]
