Well I'll drop you five sweet songs that you should listen to once a week, that will help you get over your mid-week slump and set sail towards the ever-nearing weekend! Ready? Okay!

Come Josephine In My Flying Machine (1911) - Will Sexton & Simone Stevens 256kbps Producers Paul Marsteller and Gabriel Rhodes invite you back into the parlour with The Beautiful Old, an entertaining collection of elegant yet earthy songs, ranging from 1823’s ‘Home Sweet Home’ to 1918’s ‘Till We Meet Again’. The Beautiful Old keeps the piano, often played by The Band’s Garth Hudson, at the heart of each arrangement, illustrating the original spirit of the compositions brought back to life with such illustrious vocalists as Richard Thompson, Christine Collister, Dave Davies (The Kinks), Graham [...]

On the heels of the cover song from yesterday, I bring you even more options to hear musicians perform other musicians intellectual property. This time it is full album cover project for The Postal Service's album ' Give Up ' for it's 10 year anniversary. A pretty influential album at the time and almost defined a new wave of 'indie' in music. Many may deny it's importance or downplay the effect this album on today's music (if asked today), but you know they still don't even fully believe themselves. There are two sides to this digital offering with [...]
On Wolfroy Goes To Town, the 2011 release of BONNIE PRINCE BILLY and his backing band THE CAIRO GANG, there's been this moment, somewhere halfway through the outstanding track Quail & Dumplings, in which a female voice arose – majestic yet unstable, shivering yet clear and strong, proclaiming "why wait for someday, why make a The post Angel Olsen - Half Way Home appeared first on Nothing But Hope And Passion - NBHAP - Music Magazine & more .

Four of the six members of today's featured Detroit based band have fronted other projects, but during the past few years they have united under first-time bandleader, Joe Hertler, to create sublime folk tinged with Motown, funk, and pop. "When we met Joe," says bassist and producer of Hertler’s first album, Kevin Pritchard, "He was a weird dude with sideburns hiding behind an accordion. Now he's a confident front man with a flower on his head and a mic in his hand." Joe Hertler started as a successful solo artist, and then formed a duo with guitarist Ryan [...]
London based five piece alt-folk band Spry have released a four track EP that is well worth spending some time with. It is a delicately judged mix of sweet harmonies and soaring, uplifting choruses on the one hand ( Sand Devils ) and bruised, bitter melancholia on the other ( Glass Between Your Toes ). While comparisons to the so called nu-folk uprising led by the Mumfords and Johnny Flynn would be easy to make, they would also be lazy too. Spry have much more going for them than that [...]

An evening of graceful ferocity... - by Benjamin Bland
Thank goodness we didn’t have to wait long for the latest offering from Manchester minimal-poppers The 1975 and their forthcoming EP IV which is set to release May 20 stateside, with freshly minted single “Falling For You”. Last week, we gave you Ninjas the drop on the dreary cut “Haunt // Bed”, and today follows suit with that slow-burning aesthetic spearheaded by Matthew Healy’s longing coo, steeped in a blanket of shoegazey reverb. At the heart of “Falling For You”, beats a faint, driving synth just audible enough to get your hips [...]
British newcomers LONDON GRAMMAR present a stylish and atmospheric music video for their latest fascinating single Wasting My Young Years. As you might know, NOTHING BUT HOPE AND PASSION already reported about their last two songs Hey Now and Metal & Dust - and we clearly liked what we heard here. In hot anticipation of their forthcoming debut album Kodaline have released a beautiful acoustic version of their single Love Like This . Whilst the original burst with charm and charisma the Irish quartet have managed to flip the tables adding a whole new twist through its stripped back appeal. In as poignant manner as ever Kodaline manage to captivate and engage through this emotionally distraught rendition led by the solemnity of its lonesome piano. The heartwarming arrangement showcasing the bands ability in channelling their energy and affection as Stephen Garrigan's tender, pain-stricken vocals [...]

Ah, how we love Matthew Sawyer and his unique/oddball/visitor from Mars perspective on the world. His 2010 album How Ghosts Eat , with backing band The Ghosts remains one of our all time favourites. Good news then to discover that he is returning with a new album later this year on our favourite label Fire Records . We have a track from it below, the typically original Feeeeling . Given the plethora of wonderful releases Fire have already put out in 2013, they should be having their best year ever. [...]

New Tunng ? Yes, please. You know I am affectionate toward the London crew, and their new song, "The Village," does little to alter that. The song is 4 minutes 33 seconds, and I've listened to it 5 times in the last 22 minutes and 45 seconds. Math! "The Village" is the new single off Tunng's forthcoming fifth album, Turbines , due June 17 via Full Time Hobby . Bonus:

High Coast , a band hailing from Malmö, released their debut EP recently. On it you'll find four tracks with earthy, Americana-vibing acoustic music full of nature poetry. "Talvatis", the song here below, was earlier released as a single, and got it's name from a lake in the north of Sweden. High Coast on Facebook - on Spotify - on Bandcamp
In October 2012 EFTERKLANG teamed up with Danish classical orchestra Copenhagen Phil and German conductor André de Ridder to perform their latest album Piramida live at Copenhagen's Royal Academy of Music Concert Hall. London Grammar are often hailed as ‘the new xx’. I can imagine why people compare London Grammar with The xx , but there are as many differences as similarities. It’s probably the production that reminds people of The xx in a certain way; the guitar- and bass play show similarity, especially in Wasting My Young Years . One of the main differences though is the kind of classical sound London Grammar breathes. Actually,it is this classical and velvet sound that distinguish London Grammar from all the [...]
Emily Anne George is a singer-songwriter from Sydney. Influenced by the early sounds of Carole King, Etta James and Leonard Cohen and literature from Allen Ginsberg, Truman Capote and Emily Bronte, she writes about personal experience or about the absurdities and observances of life. If her feature single Murderers On The Inside is a typical example of what she is capable of, then we are in for a treat. A haunting melody underpins lyrics that are as insightful as they are honest - and the subject matter is not for the [...]
