The mighty Johnny Foreigner have announced a slew of UK dates in March, their first full tour since the release of last years stunning Vs Everything LP. The band have also announced that Vs Everything will be released as a double-vinyl on Alcopop! in April. The vinyl set will include the album in full spread across three sides, with the fourth side featuring all the B-Sides from the Vs Everything singles. The artwork will be ridiculously stunning too, we assume. Those dates in full [...]

The Ohio rock band and Danger Mouse revise '70s rock on a dazzling new album.

Just found this absolute beauty at the beginning of Tilly's new mix ... lolz and amazing at the same time! Stocklholm resident HNNY has looped up some of Mariah Carey's cover of The Foreigners - I Want To Know What Love Is and whacked a great big fat slab of hip hop beats over it Im guessing this is going to be very marmite for a lot of people haha. I Want To Know What Love Is by HNNY

Since 2007, Nils Lofgren has spent two years on the road with Bruce Springsteen and the E Street Band, played the Super Bowl, had hip replacement surgery and lost close friends, E Street Band members, Danny Federici and the "Big Man" Clarence Clemons. Lofgren throws the emotions from these events and more life experiences into one pot and stirs up an excellent 12-track collection called Old School . On the rockin' title track, Lofgren gets a little help from former Foreigner frontman Lou Gramm and takes a shot at all those whiners who would rather complain than get out and actually do [...]

You may have noticed that we have a little thing for Johnny Foreigner here at GFP . The bands new album Johnny Foreigner Vs Everything received the first 10/10 we've ever given and we followed it up with a huge interview with front-man Lex. Now in return the band have sent GoldFlakePaint, and you of course, a present in the form of three mix-tapes (one from each member of the band) containing the songs that inspired them while making their wonderful new record. Here's a little [...]
I'm going to get straight to the point - the main thing we need to establish here is whether or not Johnny Foreigner have progressed past their mid-2000s, slightly eccentric, exaggerated indie rock niche. We're now four albums and seven EPs into the three-piece's almost six-year career, and sometimes it just doesn't feel like we've ever moved away from 'Sometimes In The Bullring'. A song that, for me, defined everything the band ever wanted to be: the soundtrack to an obscure teenage melodrama; dripping tales of woe, despair, love and angst dressed up in a pseudo-happiness and a [...]

Spoiler Alert: The chorus of "You vs. Everything" comes back, and when it does it's the greatest moment of the greatest song of the greatest album of the year. In a just world, the song would roll under the credits of dozens of feature-length teen dramedies by the middle of the decade. Or soundtrack montages of the young and the jilted, ditching soul-killing jobs, driving too fast in cars, smashing mailboxes, dreaming big dreams and proceeding with the business of Getting Over It And Getting On With It. In fact, the entirety of Johnny Foreigner 's captivating third LP [...]
Check out the covers from the November 1 episode of Glee, "Pot of Gold," including songs by the Muppets, Katy Perry, Foreigner, Christina Aguilera and Teddy Thompson.

Next week, the Glee bitches are back to spread the devilish dirty ways around the world; and we have the FULL Song streams from the November 1st episode, "Pot o Gold!" Well they actually posted it to their site first, but whatever. New Glee cast member, Damian McGinty sings two songs, "It Ain't Easy Being Green" and "Take Care of Yourself." I'm sure Miss Kurt gets her panties up in a twist over this. Darren Criss tries to replicate [...]

Alexei Berrow, in speaking about his band's new record, has made a point of saying that its title came well before anything else did. The last two years have been rather difficult for Johnny Foreigner ( facebook / twitter ), and their courage in the face of adversity has been remarkable. You get the feeling that it really has been them versus everything: a damaging album leak for 'Grace and the Bigger Picture'; an acrimonious split with Best Before Records; a US tour with Los Campesinos! that drove them even deeper into the red; and of course, the [...]

The soundtrack to Saturday Night Fever was the first vinyl album I remember owning, a Christmas gift in 1977. I had little interest in music at the time, but I imagine that lots of folks received that album, that Christmas season, from people who knew them well enough to feel compelled to give a gift, yet not well enough to not what the recipient might truly want. I received my copy from from an aunt. (she wasn't some cool, hip, younger aunt, but, rather, an older widow who swore like [...]

We wanted to emphasize the early portion of tomorrow night's excellent program at Precinct Bar in Somerville, MA, which is, of course, the listening party for the forthcoming, triumphant third full-length from Birmingham, England-based indie titans Johnny Foreigner . We've been dubbing this a North American-exclusive, because we are certain that is true. But it may also be true that tomorrow night's listening party is the WORLD PREMIERE OF THE RECORD. We're not 100% certain that's true, but we're certainly treating the event -- which is the first hour of an evening that will also see live [...]

I guess it's always difficult to put into words what is you love about a band. Well at least words that make some sort of coherent sense. Sometimes it's the music, sometimes it's the lyrics and sometimes everything about them just falls in to place and makes sense to you - both as a listener and a real life person . (Note - I'm in no way claiming these words to make coherent sense) I can still remember the first time I listened to Johnny Foreigner . I remember having ten pounds in my pocket and standing [...]

Feel the hype cycle! We are proud to present along with our friends at The Ash Gray Proclamation Saturday night's The Hush Now tour homecoming show at Precinct Bar in Somerville, Mass. On Nov. 7 Birmingham, England-based indie rock luminaries Johnny Foreigner release their third and finest full-length, the titanic quasi-concept album Johnny Foreigner vs. Everything . As fronter Alexei Berrow told Stereoboard here last month, the hotly anticipated record -- which sold out of deluxe pre-orders in fewer than 12 hours -- is less autobiographical than the prior two, and concerns itself with "the alternate universe theory; for every decision you make, there exists a world where you made the opposite. There's also internal monologue in the merits of experiencing stuff versus capturing it [...]
