One week. 7 days. 168 hours. 10080 Minutes. 604800 Seconds. 604800000 Milliseconds. However you want to break it down, Snowball Music Festival is advancing at us with silent haste. Making the move to Winter Park, Colorado this year, Snowball will be held March 8th-10th. Here's a quick list of acts to see, along with a survival guide for high altitude raving: Luminox: Most trap falls into the category of over-the-top and bursting with [...]
"In the Fresh" is the debut single from newcomer artist Stroik. The playful yet snide, ebullient yet cutting "In the Fresh" is a song full of contradiction and juxtaposition. ""You're beautiful minding yourself / But they're watching you like hunter's prey / We're laughing at the funeral / And on the way back we're cradling camo" pretty cold, right? The tension and constant push/pull that exists between the track lyrically and the sunny indie pop of its instrumental and the adept execution of that tension makes for a definite standout listen. Release Date - House of Manners [...]
Here at MUF, our affinity for remixes will never be lost, especially as long as Gigamesh keeps doing what he's doing. The Minneapolis multi-platinum producer's new remix of Moullinex's "Take My Pain Away" brings a beat like that of an 80s montage. Call in the A-Team, this track is full of classic synth melodies and elements. Gigamesh may as well be changing the remix as we know it bringing back the old style of what we loved so much in the past. The breakdown around 3:15 is fantastic.
Well don't we have something special for you on the 5th of October. That's right, CANT SAY is hosting GIGAMESH for the only Melbourne stop of his upcoming Australian tour. Born Matt Masurka , Gigamesh is a multi-platinum selling music producer and DJ. Most recognised for his remix work on some of the biggest indie hits in the past 12 months, (including Foster The People , Grouplove and Theophilus London [...]
Catchy Chorus - When a song is stuck in one's head, but only the chorus or a section or phrase in the chorus can be recollected. Lets face it.... songs with a catchy chorus aren't going anywhere, no matter how hard we try their here to stay. With that being said, below are twelve exhilarating examples of catchy tunes that dominated your year over the past decade. 2012: Fun - We Are Young Mid way through 2012 and this song is all over the place! Fun pulled out [...]
This week the superstar that is known as Usher popped in to the BBC Radio 1 Live Lounge to deliver, among his own silky RnB tunes, a pumped of cover of 'Pumped Up Kicks'. Introducing the tune as "one of my favourites..." playing the bass himself as he and his band rattle through the song, it's pretty damn good if you ask us. Poppier than a poppyfield of poptarts drinking fizzy pop, its actually a pretty faithful rendition. Check it out and download it below. Download: Usher - Pumped Up Kicks [...]
Another year, another Bonnaroo : one long, grueling weekend, filled with lines to write home about, clouds of dust, and the hottest weather you can imagine. That's how it goes every year, right? Actually, this year broke the cycle - and in many ways. Gone were the impossibly long entrance lines of old. This time around, you could get to Manchester on Thursday morning and be inside the gates to set up camp within a half an hour. (The longest wait I personally heard of this year was only three hours, a time that used to be on the [...]
I have to hand it to 96.5 the Buzz this year - they picked out a diverse and killer lineup for this year's Buzz Beach Ball and with the surprises during Foster the People's and Sublime with Rome's performances, Beach Ball really felt like a festival this year and not just a really long concert. Ten bands came together to entertain Kansas City at Livestrong Sporting Park. Musically, the day had everything: indie pop, stoner rock, Irish punk rock, British accents, adorable outfits, bands with personality, guest performers, remixes and even a marching band. The gorgeous soccer stadium [...]
Foster The People - Brixton Academy 29.04.12 LA three-piece Foster the People are merely one album into a career that only arrived on British shores in May of last year, which makes it all the more amazing that Brixton Academy is stuffed to the gills in anticipation of the electro-pop beats from the quirky trio. After releasing catchy-as-hell debut single Pumped up Kicks they quickly became a UK favourite and with the release of its parent album, Torches , proved they could repeat the trick at will. Wasting no time they [...]

Foster The People's Mark Foster and Isom Innis make up Simms&Belle, the people behind the latest Lana Del Rey remix. They've also drafted in Azealia Banks for a quick verse or two of the ol' hippidy-hop. Like Foster The People's own stuff, this is hardly lo-fi minimalism and pretty much all they've kept from Lizzy Grant's original is her pining chorus. Lana Del Rey recently revealed she was interested in recording a duet with British rapper Professor Green, and will perform Blue Jeans on this weekend's episode of The Voice. Check it [...]
"A little nonsense now and then is relished by the wisest men." -Willy Wonka The Big Pink - "Lose Your Mind" What starts out as a black and white montage of The Big Pink brooding against a huge slab of concrete, quickly turns into a migraine-induducing rave scene. That's one way to find your sanity I guess. Cornershop feat. Izzy Lindqwister – “Who’s Gonna Lite It Up” Here, Cornershop prove that it doesn't take a huge budget to turn the deep sea into a [...]
LA trio Foster The People get re-animated into choreography-killin' androids in their new video for Houdini off 2011 debut Torches. Watch + leave your comments! Foster The People: Houdini (Video) via Hard Candy . Tell us what you think on Twitter and Facebook .
The long wait for some new Foster The People is finally over with the Record Store Day release of the brand new track, "Ruby," alongside previously released bonus track, "Broken Jaw" on a sweet little 7-inch vinyl. "Ruby," the focus for today, has that same voice that we know and love from Mark Foster, but the feeling of the song itself is much different than anything we heard from last year's Torches . This isn't a bad thing by any means but this band is definitely seeing what other directions they can stretch with this [...]
Ben Hazlegrove, Ted Wendler, and Lane Shaw make up densely layered electro-pop as Mansions On The Moon, a Los Angeles band that has gained a fair amount of steam with their EP Lightyears, which was produced by none other than Pharrell Williams. They are said to be working on a full-length album to be released [...]
A reader of ours suggested we listen to Rizzle Kicks and we haven't looked back since. How has England kept this gem hidden away from the American public? Maybe they haven't and I'm just oblivious. Either way, these talented young men released their debut album, Stereo Typical, just last year and have already played at the O2 Arena. Granted they weren't headlining, but still! There are only a handful of British rappers I like, The Streets , Dizzee Rascal , and... that's pretty much it. These guys... well, I already love them. Hopefully, you will too. [...]
It's been a bit since we've been able to offer a free mp3 of a track, but A-trak , Mark Foster (The People) and Kimbra 's collaboration Warrior was worth the wait. Warrior was recorded for the Converse Three Artists - One Song series. We previously shared the Gorillaz / Andre 3000 / James Murphy collaboration DoYaThing which is part of the series as well. Kimbra can also be [...]
Brand new Bay Area act could prove to be alt-pop crossover of the year.
