Let’s kick things off with one of the biggies. Best reMix . Compiling 03-20 was tough, this year has been amazing for reMixes, it seems like every release in 2011 came loaded with quality versions. There were so many singles released this year that it was nearly impossible to choose your favourite mix off of. As ever, I’m sure there are tracks we have forgotten, and tracks we will be kicking ourselves for not including when they are pointed out to us, and tracks we will remember tomorrow. The winner though, and the runner up, [...]
There may not be a single band in the U.S. that broke out as big as Foster The People did in 2011. There's been a buzz about them ever since their addictive first single Pumped Up Kicks hit the internet and turned into everybody's summer jam over 2 years ago, and it all culminated to a huge year with the release of their first studio album Torches , a Coachella appearance, and they even had Don't Stop featured in a Nissan commercial . And we all know what happens when a non-electronic act has [...]

While Lance held the fort here at Remix86 for the past week, I was off gallivanting in Toronto meeting friends, DJs, and celebs (well not really meeting, more so gawking at a distance). I had it coming when I returned to an email from Lance with over 25 tracks to post. Right now I'm starting to understand why 95% of blogs post mostly links or copied-and-pasted press releases. But when you have a passion for music, you want, no, you need to do more than that, which is maybe why we were nominated for the Bloggers Choice Award [...]
Dutch Electro newcomers Legan And Met have reMixed up a stom of Foster The People ’s current single ‘Helena Beat’. Drawing heavily from both Nu-Disco and 80’s SynthPop Legan And Met create an analog sounding RoboPop reMix with the added uplifting qualities of shimmering ElectroPop. This reMix is infectious and loaded with enough synthesizer action to keep even the most hard-core synth head happy. And for everyone else, the kicking beats and soaring lead lines will have you reaching for the lasers. ♫ Foster the People - Helena [...]
I’ll say it, Mille ’s ‘Crysteena’ must rank as one of my all time favourite tunes, so it’s awesome to see the Swede back with a brand new reMix of Foster The People ’s ‘Call It What You Want’. From the opening bar this is synth heaven, but I would expect no less from Mille. The man is a master of both 80’s synth sounds and modern dancefloor production, and when the two meet magic happens. This reMix is a masterclass in retro ElectroPop; soaring and shimmering synths, FM bass, electro toms, all executed with a [...]

Indie rockers Foster the People made a big splash late last year with their track Pumped Up Kicks , but who knew such beauty would sprout from such a single? The track, dancey and summery by nature, gets a re-work by San Jose's DJ Kue . The original song itself is a definite addition to the EDM sing-along library, with crowds belting out lyrics across the world. Kue brings a different kind of life to the track, giving it a darker, more fidgety feel that definitely gets your feet shuffling along to the pumping drums [...]

"There was madness in any direction, at any hour. You could strike sparks anywhere. There was a fantastic universal sense that whatever we were doing was right, that we were winning." - Raoul Duke (Hunter S. Thompson) Ladies and gentleman, the premiere EDM event of the summer is upon us. Insomniac Productions brings us the Electric Daisy Carnival on June 24th, 25th, and 26th this upcoming weekend in Las Vegas. In a sense, those of us in attendance to the festival this weekend are all on a quest for the 'American [...]

With a powerful and impressive 10 track LP entitled “Torches” looming, then this is the honorary follow up album that MGMT should have possibly styled, produced and penned. But as they didn’t sadly, then likewise, Foster The People have swooped along, continued refining their own craft solely and have evidently patented their own original L.A. [...]

With a powerful and impressive 10 track LP entitled “Torches” looming, then this is the honorary follow up album that MGMT should have possibly styled, produced and penned. But as they didn’t sadly, then likewise, Foster The People have swooped along, continued refining their own craft solely and have evidently patented their own original L.A. sound into a full bodied ten-for-ten portait of audio-picturesque outlays and part screamy & part dreamy melodic sing-a-longs... And all with some instantaneous first plays rings that will wear out your CDJ repeat functions or annoy your internal MP3 repeat button brain patterns! [...]

It seems like forever ago since I first heard Pumped Up Kicks from this LA group . They've been so quiet since that I thought that was going to be the only hit they would produce. Quiet that is until recently, in which they've been garnering much attention from the blog world, doing a great job in creating hype for their forthcoming album titled Torches , set to drop May Two Four. I for one am pretty excited for the release, and judging by all the fantastic remixes of the group [...]
What a tune to come back from the weekend too! Gigamesh smashes this reMix of Foster The People ’s ‘Pumped Up Kicks’ right out of the park! With just the right mix of Indie-Electro and Disco Gigamesh has revamped FTP’s over-remixed ‘hit’ into a piano and electro tom laden summer anthem. A new lease of life for the track was defiantly needed for this song to get some of the summer play it so desperately wanted and Gigamesh has done just that. [...]
![FOSTER THE PEOPLE – Foster The People EP [Startime]](http://cdn.elbo.ws/posts/3198732_lg.jpg)
L.A.’s Foster The People were born in October 2009 and centered their love of music out to the world. Producing a cute, but well bodied three track EP via Startime International, their sound has pretty much become their own. Simmering inspirational licks from possible influences as MGMT and Beirut, this trio will be destined for big things in 2011. FOSTER THE PEOPLE - Helena Beat FOSTER THE PEOPLE - Houdini [...]
