![[Watch] Foster the People Perform on Saturday Night Live](http://cdn.elbo.ws/posts/3777363_lg.jpg)
It goes without saying that Foster the People have exploded over the course of the summer, going from no-names to mainstream icons in less than a year. Their single "Pumped Up Kicks" has been blasted on radio stations all over the world, to the point that it is clearly overplayed. Whether or not you're off or on the Foster the People bandwagon, you can't deny that the band has had an impressive history. Last night, the L.A. trio made their way to the Saturday Night Live studio to perform both "Pumped Up Kicks" and "Houdini." [...]

Even when singing about some pretty serious topics (go ahead and actually read the lyrics to "Pumped Up Kicks"), Foster the People maintain a youthful, carefree energy in their synth-heavy indie pop tracks. And just one view of the band's SNL teaser video confirmed that the Los Angeles trio can still be giddy despite their recent explosion. Said video also hinted to something slightly more surprising; a special guest appearance sometime during Saturday night's performance. Lead-singer Mark Foster seemed a bit nervous at the onset of a [...]
Here's something we missed on Late Night With Jimmy Fallon the night before last. Fallon and guest Joseph Gordon-Levitt, apparently friends in real life, got together to sing karaoke and do impressions of other singers. Fallon, as David Bowie, sang Foster The People's "Pumped Up Kicks." JGL, as Axl Rose, sang Kelly Clarkson's "Since U Been Gone." And then the two of them, as Bowie and Axl, sang Lady Gaga's "The Edge Of Glory." And there's no nice way to say this, but these two impressions are ... well, they are trying. Observe: Read More...
HD Video by G. On September 28, 2011, Los Angeles’ Foster The People made a triumphant return to New York, playing their second of two sold out shows at Terminal 5. I knew when I saw them earlier this year at the much smaller Bowery Ballroom they were going to be huge, and I was so pleased to see that the rest of the world has caught on. In some ways, I expected their fan base to be emo hipsters, but instead it seemed to consist of tween girls. But then again, when you think about the fact [...]

Well I can't say I'm not suprised. "Pumped Up Kicks" may as well been made for SNL's music dept. LA's own Foster the People will be performing live on SNL Oct 8th with Host Ben Stiller. I'm just going to come out and say it. I think their set will be more enjoyable than Radiohead's performance on SNL last week . MP3: Foster The People - Helena Beat Tweet

Tom Hamilton & American Babies | photo by WHITperson This week in NYC Live Music is an interesting one, with a couple notable heavy-hitters and a few solid small-club shows... After their Saturday night slot as the musical guest on SNL , Radiohead decided to stick around town for two, now-sold-out shows at the Roseland Ballroom; definitely a tough ticket due to the venue size, so here's hoping you were one of the lucky NYers who scored tickets. If not, there are plenty of [...]

These boys be sounding good without even trying. At this little NPR ditty we hear acoustic versions of Houdini, Helena Beat and (of course) Pumped Up Kicks. They are still touring and selling out shows all over the place so make sure you get tickets if they come around your residence. drink the kool aid:
The Kooks stopped by BBC Radio 1 Live Lounge to promote their third album and also to do what most artist do when they come on that show...Cover another band. The Kooks covered Foster The People's , Pumped Up Kicks . I feel like this song has been out for five years the amount of play it has been receiving lately. The Kooks’ latest album, Junk of the Heart drops September 12th.
This acoustic version of Foster the People 's megahit 'Pumped Up Kicks' for Portland, Oregon's 101.9 KINK FM radio station in the Bing Lounge is very different from the version I'm sure you're used to. What I want to know is, if Mark Foster has such a nice, normal singing voice, then *why* does he sing falsetto? Also below is a live gig from Music Hall in Williamsburg in Brooklyn, courtesy of the fine folks at Baeblemusic. Click here to view the [...]

Just over a week ago Foster The People officially made it when music heavyweights Weezer covered their insanely catchy summer anthem, "Pumped Up Kicks" . Now to return the favour LA boys Foster The People decided to play "Say It Ain't So" at a recent show in Brooklyn's Prospect Park. When Weezer did their cover they made "Pumped Up Kicks" their own and it sounded like a Weezer track through and through. FTP have done a decent cover but it's the more straight up kind, the ones where it could just be any other guys [...]
Outside Lands was a great success this past weekend in Golden Gate Park in San Franciscooo. A couple members of the BGB team were in attendance and definitely enjoyed the amazing spread of genres, crazy people at every turn and overall great time. It was also fun to see groups heavily promoted on the site receive big stage attention and huge crowds. Foster the People , Toro Y Moi , Ellie Goulding , MGMT , Collie Budz , Macklemore and Ryan Lewis and the obvious Deadmau5 . Ellie [...]
On one hand it blows to not be able to capture an entire song on video. On the other, it's pretty cool to see these snippets lumped together in one post.
Foster the People cover Weezer's 'Say It Ain't So.'

So last week, I saw that Weezer had covered the hit song by Foster The People , "Pumped Up Kicks" . With Rivers reading the lyrics off a cheat sheet, I wasn't too impressed with the whole idea or performance. Today though, Foster The People return the favor with a nice performance of "Say It Ain't So" . Obviously their frontman knew the lyrics, just like everyone else I'm sure. It must have been humbling to have a band they've looked up to cover their music, even if he looked like he did it on [...]
Here is one of the buzziest bands out there right now Foster The People live from last weekend's Lollapalooza festival performing their songs "Pumped Up Kicks" (above), "Helena Beat" and "Life on the Nickel" (below) from their debut album Torches .
