For those of you have been frustrated by Janelle Monae's delay in releasing the sequel to The ArchAndroid , the good news from Frank Ocean's corner is that he's 10 or 11 songs into his next album . I'm normally hesitant to post mashups, derivative as they tend to be, but Chicago-based producers The Hood Internet have put out a good one here. The two main tracks alone - Purity Ring's "Belispeak" and Frank Ocean's "Pyramids" - are good in their own right, while the mashers add their own take on it that makes it more than just a simple overdub of two solid songs. I'd like to think that the decision to feature this epic ballad (10 minutes!) as his latest single was inspired by his recent collaboration with Kanye West on Watch The Throne. The melty-voiced not so rambunctious friend of the OFWGKTA boys, Frank Ocean continues to be a source a tall, dark, and honey-voiced glass of mystery as his new track appeared up on his website. Mr. Ocean doesn't push his way into the limelight or seem to enjoy the same tomfoolery as his fellow Odd Futurists who regularly appear on American Swim's "Loiter Squad" and his Tumblr posts and equally enigmatic. There's not many things that can link Frank Ocean to M Ward , but don't wrack your brains for some far-fetched seventh degree of separation because both have just been announced for Bestival . The Odd Future member and the Oberst/Deschanel collaborator will join the like of The XX, Sigur Ròs and even Stevie Wonder at the fest. Bestival will take place at Robin Hill Country Park, Isle of Wight between the 6-9th September.
