Tonight's premiere of Saturday Night Live's 38th season saw many changes. For one, Kristin Wiig and Andy Samberg are no longer permanent cast members. One thing that hasn't changed, however, is their choice of talented musicians, and tonight, SNL brought onto the stage Frank Ocean at Studio 8H. Frank Ocean made his Saturday Night Live debut on the September 15 season premiere with two knockout performances. His first song was his now-staple "Thinkin' Bout You," followed by the second half of " Pyramids " (which we predicted !). Frank Ocean (with his trusty bandana) is in a series of promos for tomorrow's (Sep. 15) season premiere of Saturday Night Live , which will be hosted by Seth MacFarlane. In the above clips, Ocean appears alongside MacFarlane and cast-member Fred Armisen, mainly just standing there (sometimes with his hand over his mouth) as the other two do a couple quick routines. In the same veins as Frank Ocean & The Weeknd comes Sid Sriram out of Boston. He is the perfect mix of both artists. With a voice eerily like The Weeknd without the heavy production mixed in to give it the all natural and holistic feel of Frank Ocean is Sid Sriram. Normally I don't get that into someone singing but Sid Sriram taps into that primal need for a peaceful and relaxing song that you can just lay back to and relax. At least one of your Stereogum correspondents is so lame and old that he didn't actually watch last night's VMAs, for like the first time in decades, because he was watching some political convention on some other channel instead. So last night the 2012 MTV Video Music Awards took place in Los Angeles and with that comes a few notable performances. Most of all is the man who seems to do no wrong this year, Frank Ocean . He was on hand to perform his track "Thinkin' Bout You" in the flawless fashion we've come to expect from the young talent. Dealing with the big stages can take time, but Frank has been unflinching, and he gave another great show at Lollapalooza 2012.
