Love Me Now, When I'm Gone, Love Me None By Taylor K. Long For an emotional R&B singing moniker, Christopher Breaux aka Frank Ocean couldn't have done much better. Writers often use water metaphors – an ocean, in particular – to represent feelings, emotions, and hidden...

"One Who Can't Move" from Australian producer Galapagoose has all the trappings and niceties of an accomplished electronic track; it skillfully melds several genres and styles and ably blends a complex (but compositionally tasteful) arrangement. The standout element of the track though, for us, is it's great pop sensibility. Galapagoose's use of the Sinatra "Send in the Clowns" sample in the context of the track is really A+ stuff. Listen. The other day, a film-critic friend and I had dissenting opinions -- several of them -- and our healthy debates, naturally, turned to the subject of George Clooney, one of my favorite actors. The other guy's take on the soon-to-be-quadruple Oscar nominee for acting (and likely two-time winner come February 26) was one I've heard countless times: "Doesn't George Clooney always play himself?" Wait, that guy he was playing in Syriana was George Clooney? I do not think so, and if he was, then he gained 30 pounds and f**ked up his back on [...]

The random mid-90s alt-rock compilation; is there any better source for oddball rarities and bizarro obscurities? It's thanks to this trend of "let's package as many bands who we think the kids who like Nirvana might like together and see what happens" we have albums like No Alternative , with Soul Aslyum's awesome take on "Sexual Healing" and that crazy Carpenters tribute record with Sonic Youth's cover of "Superstar." Chairman of the Board , a collection of alt-rock groups taking on standards made famous by Frank Sinatra, doesn't have any classic cuts like those records [...]
Those of you who partied a little too much this weekend might be forgiven if you think some things in the pictures below look a little familiar. After all, seeing strange visions is often a part of the whole process of seriously overindulging. (Thanks to 'M' for the pictures.) Frank Sinatra - "It Was A Very Good Year" Click to view slideshow.
Merry Christmas everyone! In honor of this wonderful holiday, I have compiled an article chronicling a sort of history of recent electronic music, including such topics as the age of the duo and the rise of progressive. Enjoy! The Ghost of Electro Past: The title of this category may be a little misleading – when I say 'past' I'm talking in electronic music years. Essentially, this is the period immediately before everything exploded into a flurry of wub wubs and an event with over 50,000 people ensured a child's death. This was [...]

There are thousands of popular artists out there today making new singles all the time. Now it seems that you're finding tens of thousands of remixes by artists [...]
