Moving and socially significant Australian country music Though country music is most typically associated with the Southern United States, it's impact has been felt all around the world. In addition to Nashville and Texas exports, a strong but little-known strain developed among Australian aboriginals in the second half of the twentieth century. American songs were repurposed to tell stories of harsh conditions in the outback, and lyrics of country-to-city migration, drinking and prison all found resonance in the freewheeling down-under. But Australians also stretched the genre with localized stories, locations and slang, and dark [...]

First and foremost, I have to shout out my dude Le'Shawn Taylor for hipping me to this beyond-dusty new beat tape from Tampa, Fla.-based producer Phromsopha. Secondly, I kinda/sorta want to apologize for the lack of posts on instrumental releases lately. I've been busy with other projects, features, etc... and this has caused me to snooze on joints like Crucially Going Def . If you like to catch a contact high from your beats or are fond of sample flips originating from grimy crates, then you should download this now. Should neither of those apply, you will still probably [...]
German dream wave producer PRETTY BOY MAKES RAVE released a new song earlier this week. It's called Experiencing The Unknown and it's meant to be the official soundtrack to his current hiatus. The last thing we heard was an exclusive guestmix he did with chillwave producer GOLD FALLS, with whom he also released a special The post Pretty Boy Makes Rave with new song "Experiencing The Unknown" appeared first on Nothing But Hope And Passion - NBHAP - Music Magazine & more .
Recently featured in Finest Ego’s UK/Ireland compilation alongside artists Om Unit, Mr Beatnick and Lapalux, SertOne has quickly made a name for himself with his trademark mutated synth-heavy instrumental Hip Hop beats. Becoming a regular feature on blogs such XLR8R in 2013, SertOne has offered his hand to 'Time' , taken from Young Wonder's Show Your Teeth EP . Our friends at Resident Advisor released an awesome interview, from one of the favorite producers, Orlando Higginbottom. Better known for his alias, Totally Enormous Extinct Dinosaurs or TEED for short, Orlando has been one of the shining stars of the past year and half by playing some of the most amazing live shows, DJing unbelievably eclectic sets, and producing some the most original music. This is sure to hold you over, for the next couple of months, until his forthcoming mix cd, Get Lost , on Crosstown Rebels is released [...]
It's past 5pm on a Friday night, so fingers crossed most of you are out prepping for whatever you have in store to celebrate the end of the week. Take a brief moment before you clock out for the weekend to take a glimpse at a new Kingdom flip of Cassie's "All My Love". It's available as a free download to celebrate the release of Vertical XL on May 28. Keeping up with the typical Kingdom output, you should probably find a way to sneak this one into your weekend playlist.

I'm the first to admit that when I'm looking for new music the first place I turn to besides soundcloud, is thissongslaps.com. Last night, was no exception. At first, when I saw this exclusive from Notixx I was stoked. He played at the Blasted Events Warehouse show last week and absolutely killed it. So, of course, I jumped on the play, clicked the download and soon followed with a heart. "Fallout Flow," is definitely a track that gets your heart rate up and your blood flowing. From the snaps to the snares, to the builds, my heart felt like [...]

Hey you, music fan, did you know that Daedelus loves you? Well, he does, otherwise why else would he be sharing his live sets? He just uploaded a killer 50-minute mix entitled Live At PRIME . My Google overlord ways are failing me, so I'm not exactly sure where it went down. I do know that it's one hell of a live set and that I (and you!) need to see Daedelus next time he's in town. You can stream/download the mix below. [ via ]

Continuning to keep up the pressure, dBerrie's latest move sees him stepping up to bring his unique touch to LA-based rock foursome Imagine Dragons' recent single "Radioactive." Unlocking the heavy-hitting original's dancefloor potential, dBerrie moulds the melodic urgency and emotive power into a driving house anthem. Channelling that sharp edge into his pounding drums and pulsing synths, dBerrie has crafted a peak-time production primed and ready for the Summer. The new remix continues what has been an outstanding year for dBerrie so far. With a steady stream of new music continuing to turn heads and a [...]

If I hadn't already put together the Best Downloads of the Week post, I would have absolutely placed Tiger Tsunami's Re:Antarctica EP on there. The London producer's style is reminiscent of Teebs and Flying Lotus' work but with some guitars thrown into the mix to make it his own. Tiger Tsunami also enlisted three choice collaborators to deliver remixes of each track on here. I'm personally drawn to "Waves" the most, especially that outro, but the other two originals are just as lovely. Also, Koloto's remix of "Waves" is bonkers . And glitchy. [...]

Daft Punk damn near broke the Internet this past Monday when their new album, Random Access Memories , hit the web and quickly appeared on iTunes as a full stream . But coming in a close second place was Kanye West, partially because HMV Japan revealed that June 18 is most likely the release date of his next album. He also performed inside of a pyramid . Yeah. Anyway, we're mostly hyped to hear Killer Mike and El-P's Run the Jewels record, which they finished this past week. In slightly bizarre news, [...]

Some brilliant new artists have popped up this year. There are a few that we plan to keep an eye on as they release new tracks, in the hopes that every release will be an improvement on the last. One artist who has been doing just that, is the cool cat known as Pawsa. Have a listen below to what he's managed to do with the vocals from the Gorillaz' 'Tomorrow Comes Today'. I think you'll agree with us when we say 'this is much better than the original and the Gorillaz should burn every copy of the original track [...]

The guys from Hydrabadd have been catching some traction across the internet as of late and their recent collection of remixes features some great work from producers Heroes and Villains, Taste Tester, and Druid Cloak. Atlanta has been breeding a trap scene that stretches much farther then the walls of Magic City, with artists creating their own sounds, fusing together multiple genres. The Sanctuary Remixes EP is the first release on VAVLT Records. Download: Hydrabadd - Sanctuary Remixes EP The post Download: Hydrabadd - Sanctuary Remixes EP [...]

Soon after getting my first dose of Fat History Month , I discovered Krill- - a noisy, off the wall alternative rock band in the same Boston basement scene as FHM and Speedy Ortiz. Their latest single, Never A Joke , off their forthcoming LP Lucky Leaves features the same vacillating vibe featured on last year's home recorded Alam No Hris , but more polished and free of basement debris. Jonah Furman’s wavering vocals instantly pulled me in and are the biggest reason for me playing this song over and over for the past [...]

Wu-Tang Clan dropped a new song this morning to build up a little hype for their forthcoming A Better Tomorrow album due out in July. Not that they really need to build any hype once they attach the name Wu-Tang to it. The track "Execution In Autumn" is actually a previously unreleased recording that features about half the members of Wu including RZA , Raekwon , U-God and Inspectah Deck, but its still new WTC music nonetheless. And while its almost guaranteed that anybody who grew up listening to Wu-Tang will make comments [...]
