Not even 3 months after the release of Mowgli , Mister Lies is pushing himself to release new material that goes way beyond the comforts of that debut album. Magichour may take 3 or 4 listens to make sense of, but when everything falls into place, the tempestuousness of the whole thing is completely astounding. The track features a great little duo from LA called Knower , who are definitely worth checking out, you can also grab a free mp3 right here . Stream below:

Young Illinois garage-punks The Orwells must be doing something right. They've caught the ear of TV On The Radio's Dave Sitek who will be producing forthcoming material for them. Here's their original version on 'Other Voices'.
It's not for fear of getting all but absolutely swept away by Blue Hawaii that we're back extolling the virtues of the Montréal-based duo comprising Agor Cowan and Raphaelle Standell-Preston, for to paraphrase Mykki Blanco everything they touch turns to motherfuckin' gold. And live, whether that aptly be at Club Motherfucker's 10th anniversary celebrations or at last weekend's The Great Escape , is when they really come into their own: they cut loose and positively lacerate the itself sublime Untogether LP of earlier on in the year, only to recompose it [...]
Following up last year's well-receivedWe've Got A Map, San Francisco's Tidelands recently teamed up with neighbor Debbie Neigher for a split seven-inch. The issue was just issued via Redgummy Records. Download "Atoms" below. "Atoms" (download):
Australian producer Ta-ku shared today a gorgeous edit/rework of Daughter's magical single "Love," which is taken from the bands "The Wild Youth" EP released during 2012. After listening to more than 100 times, we had to share this work with you. Ta-ku's takes couldn't be better! If you already heard the original, you're going to adore this work. Besides being just a simple edit, it fills the "gaps" of the original single with simple details creating an elegant and delicate atmosphere. It's impossible to stay indifferent to this rework. Download your copy below, and follow Ta-ku on Facebook [...]
As rabble-rousers universally revered by self-proclaimed musicologists the world wide web over, it's kind of a big deal whenever Liars deign to do anything aurally digestible. That they chose to unleash this one in such impromptu fashion whilst all those supposed connoisseurs were congregated down beside the seaside for last week's The Great Escape could be deemed a subversive swipe at the quick-fire journalism which so tediously dominates all strands of new media, and in that same manner here we are extolling its indubitable virtues some six days after news of its immediate release first broke. Neither eventuality can [...]

Daft Punk 's Random Access Memories was released yesterday, May 21st, and while we're still absorbing the new work, the duo prepared one last surprise for their fans. Nothing more, nothing less, than a bonus track called "Horizon" released exclusively on Japan iTunes. This little piece has been played on repeat all morning here at Golden Scissors, and probably, it will be played on repeat for the rest of the week. The single is delicate, bright, and very much addictive. It has some sort of magical vibe conveyed by a hazy guitar together with a simple and beautiful synth-line. "Horizon" will [...]
This is an unusual one. No Middle Name is an experimental project by one of the guys from The Title Sequence. On 'When Forever Ends' he pilfers a bit from The Beatles, adds some lounge music and a dreampop backing.
Last year, Jordan Herrera (better known as Young Readers) released his Family Trees EP after a college professor told him he wasn't cut out for school. The creative DIY efforts of Herrera are undeniable considering that each EP sleeve was printed on construction paper and came with a box of crayons, urging us all to create our own [...]
With the release of Bankrupt! last month, the abundance of Phoenix remixes I've been receiving lately comes as no surprise. My favourite has to be Zebra Safari 's take on Entertainment . I've praised the duo for their originality and style in the past, but hearing this within a sea of mediocre, samey remixes just kind of proves they're a cut above the rest. Grab a free download below:
Noisy lo-fi punk duo Japanther have a new album out this week which is called 'Eat Like Lisa, Act Like Bart'. So it's reasonably safe to assume they're not ready to grow up just yet. Here's free track 'Stolen Flowers'.

UK producer Michael Greene (aka Fort Romeau) has just shared a brand new remix of Holy Other's "Held." The original single is taken from Manchester producer debut album also titled "Held" released last year. Romeau's treatment doesn't mischaracterize the original. In fact, it respects the the essence of "Held," only adding a groovy bassline and a great vocal work. For what we read on Greene's soundcloud account, he made this this work while touring together with Holy Other, and finally here's a mastered version, and 100% free download. As you may already know we're big fans of almost everything Fort [...]
