He may be Jackson Royalty but little JJ & MJ nephew, Austin Brown is all grown up & definitely standing on his own two feet. He is delivering us some delicious tracks & our earholes thank him immensely. One of the best parts of his new 11-song mixtape, outside of its pop-perfection , is (like his friend JoJo ) he is giving it all away for FREE. Yeah, you heard right. This record is a complete free standing album and something to be reckoned with. I really don't need to sing anymore praises his [...]

A rather anonymous entity called Pseudogeddon entered the EDJ radar the other day courtesy of Fracture and Neptune's Astrophonica label. This unknown label/site/movement has just released a free compilation full of classic tunes that have been given the still fashionable footwork/juke/jungle hybrid treatment witnessed on Dawn Day Night's recent EP. It features remixes from a whole host of EDJ favourites including Dawn, OM Unit and Machine Drum as well as some less well knowns that you would be well advised to check out. Plenty of 808 goodness to check throughout but [...]

Wish I could tell you all about Paris-based Clara 3000, but I know nada. Other than she use to intern at Ed Banger records and has been DJing the last handful of years. First time hearing her over here and will definitely be following more closely now. Loving the electro, house, darker side of disco meets techno flavor she has going on. Watch this space for more, hope you enjoy the DJ mix as much as we are… Also love the fact that she just said fuck it and named the mix Badass.jpg. [...]

Such a beautiful remix here coming from Australian band Mitzi. Slow burning, nu disco, with just the right amount of pop, perfection in my book. It might be the dead of winter right now in the US, but if this tune is any indication you can tell Mitzi are kicking off summer time down under. It's summer down there, right? Figures they'd be signed to Future Classic... Follow Mitzi on Facebook | Twitter | Tumblr You might also like: [...]

“ Doin’ Ya Thang ” from a year ago still gets regular spins from me. Play that tune with “ 7” Pimp ” by Patryk Molinari (via the Berlin based imprint Exploited) and, well, the two just work great together, IMO. So Oliver$, also happens to be from Berlin, and is definitely someone that should be on your radar, if you’re into the deeper and funkier side of house music with roots in old school. Check releases on Made To Play, Grand Petrol and Front Room Recordings and remix work on labels like Greco Roman, Rekids and Exploited (hey [...]

Tip of the hat to Paris based imprint Suspect Behavior for posting up this Bog remix of "Lost" by Frank Ocean. Although not very known here in the US, BOg is a well known figure in the Romania club scene. He has DJd in London at The Brickhouse and The Egg, many events across Bucharest and in Paris at the club showcase with Heartthrob, Ambivalent and Mahony. The few things we've heard from him (has released music on Crosstown Rebels, Suspect Behavior and Fear Of Flying) are pretty damn fun, check out this Frank Ocean remix. Good stuff, [...]

As you may or may not know, the Bromance Records x Marble Music night at Espace Pierre Cardin in Paris is underway and we imagine there's quite a bit of EDM culture merrymaking going on right now. In celebration of the fun that 99.99999999% of the world isn't having with these two camps, they wanted to rub it in a little bit (they say thank their fans for all the support) but we really know it's about making those of us who aren't at the party right now bummed on that fact. Even people in Paris that wanted to go can't [...]

I love Christmastime. The cheer, the spirit of giving, the decorations, the friends and family. I also love Christmas music, but I feel like there's a big disparity in quality between old and new Christmas tunes. Let's be real, most of the Christmas records that get released today (and even throughout the past couple of decades, honestly) are pretty bad. New songs don't have the same magic and most covers feel forced or uninspired. Name the first few Christmas songs that pop into your head and I bet not one of them was released since the '80s. Sure, there are plenty of exceptions (and [...]
2012 has been another impressive year for Irish releases, leaving us with a hell of a lot of great albums, EPs and songs to enjoy. For such a small place it can be surprising, the sheer quantity and quality of stuff in Ireland. On the surface at least, Irish music appears alive, well and more diverse and [...]

OH MY GOD.......... muthafuckingholdthephone.... It all starts with Jojo's vox strongly stating, “You should pull your titties out / Then I’ll put your record out.” If that doesn't give you a little insight into her mindset, I don't know what will. It's fresh, it's what she has always been about, it is what the music industry is still lacking. Agápē , the 13 track Mixtape (including the 6 interludes), was unveiled online earlier today, exclusively to Complex magazine as a stream. Rumor has it that on the 20th of Deciembre the mixtape will drop everywhere for [...]
Experts will tell you the music industry has changed. Think of the industry as a high class escort that used to charge $18 in the glory days of champagne and high rises. Then, the market changed. All around the high class escort there was competition that believed those same services could be enjoyed for free - that's right, a buncha hippies were shouting free love again. So, the high class escort adjusted to the market and cut deals with the clientele. How's $8 sound, plus a nicer dress...

For my second edition of DJ Crush I'm bringing you a special treat straight from Germany's ponytail, Denmark. ELOQ is my favourite kind of weird. Super well produced trappy, bassy goodness that is extremely fun to play and even more fun to dance to. Here are some gems that I have played the crap out of and still love. The last two are free! WAH WAH WEE WAH! love from @blondtron
Spacebats sent over their latest track and I am really digging it. A great blend of house / UK garage / future bass vibes. Spacebats SoundCloud page Spacebats Twitter Spacebats facebook page

By Eliot Van Buskirk of Evolver.fm . By now, you’re almost certainly familiar with the idea, if not the term, “freemium.” Spotify, with its free and premium versions, brought the concept to music in a way that took its competition by storm. An artist app for the LA rock outfit Warren Charles takes a new approach to the freemium concept by offering up the band’s entire album, for free, in a nicely-designed “analog” tape player, a photo hunt game, liner notes/artwork, a “hand painted” player for watching [...]

This is the video of the day right here. So so good. We’ve posted on C2C a few times after stumbling on, of all things, their cover art. The French producers (20Syl, Greem, Pfel, and Atom) are getting ready to drop their debut album Tetra next year on February 11 via Casablanca Records. Yes, that same Studio 54 era Casablanca you might know for names like Parliament, Donna Summer, Giorgio Moroder, etc. They re-launched this year with music coming from Crystal Castles, C2C, The Presets, Scissor Sisters, Chase & Status, Totally Enormous Extinct Dinosaurs, Ladyhawke, Elton John Vs. [...]

London based record label Bad Life are celebrating their second year of EDM culture merrymaking with this Turbo Turbo remix of "Ride" by Swim. Such a great tune, this is definitely gonna be on repeat for a while and a strong contender for my next Top Ten chart we'll be putting up next week. So anyway, Turbo Turbo calls GND Records home, the imprint founded by S-File in June 2011, releasing music by Shinichi Osawa, Sirkus Sirkuz, Paul Chambers, Shadow Dancer and more. BTW, if you missed Shadow Dancer's last mix of 2012 you can download for free here . [...]
CBS paid a whopping $270 million for Last.fm in 2007. Since then, the media giant has failed to monetize the music service and seen competitors ranging from Pandora to Spotify grab the spotlight. For months, rumors have pointed to growing disillusionment within CBS. Now come the first signs of change, according to the official statement, "in response to various factors that affect our business differently in parts of the world". Key changes as of January 15, 2013 include: [...]
