Recently signed to Parlophone for her Indigo single campaign, Sweden's Frida Sundemo makes hi-tempo electropop; the kind of which those pesky Scandinavians seem to be able to create in their sleep. December Nights at Balboa Park I've scheduled a last minute gig this Friday, December 7th at the yearly December Nights festival in Balboa Park with San Diego's House of Sweden. The House of Pacific Relations is made up of groups like the House of Sweden from nearly 30 other countries. Many of these countries have cottages where the groups meet and carry out the objectives of the organization. A Swedish popstar who's big in Japan. Who'd have thought it? Frida Sundemo, a 26-year-old from Gothenburg, has been producing pint-sized electro-pop for a little while now. This is her first 'wow' moment. Wrapped around a delicious disco beat and dripping in melody, it's a pop song in the truest form and echoes the best releases from Kylie and Girls Aloud. I'm in the Buckeye state! That's Ohio for all of you who are not familiar with this somewhat weird nick name. I actually had to look up what it means and here's what I found out. Not only did the state have a lot of Buckeye trees but William Henry Harrison who ran for president in 1840 used a log cabin made out of buckeye wood his trademark and the name of the tree itself comes from the markings on the nut that resembles the eye of a buck, the Indians called it "hetuck" or "buckeye."
