With each album, Tobacco is kind enough to provide us with a mixtape of random tracks to accompany the release. For Fucked Up Friends he threw together 'Songs to Get Killed in the Woods To' and now for Maniac Meat he provides a follow-up to the original with 'Songs to Get Killed in the Wood to 2.' The latest mix is special because it features a new track from Tobacco titled "1-900-900-900." DOWNLOAD :: Tobacco - "1-900-900-9003 - [ MP3 ] [...]

In his alter ego as Tobacco , Tom Fec of Black Moth Super Rainbow turned heads in 2008 with his Anticon album Fucked Up Friends , a deliciously dark, sleazy swirl of fuzzed-out synths and trashed-up beats that brought a hip-hop touch to the sounds he'd been exploring with BMSR. Now, two years later, Fec is donning his secret sonic identity once more, with a new album and a tour. Maniac Meat , which sports a cartoon-gross cover that seems to hark back to Topps' Wacky Packages trading [...]

It's an honor to present an interview with Tobacco covering the dichotomy between Tobacco and Black Moth Super Rainbow , as well as touching upon earlier works and hinting towards the future. As satanstompingcaterpillars , an introduction to lo-fi synth-pop was made and as Black Moth Super Rainbow grew from the ashes, several good men and women stronger, the music has not only gained in appreciators but taken on a unique form of production different from any other music being made today. Without spilling our collective hearts out and continuing with words which do no justice, [...]
Tobacco (main dude from Black Moth Super Rainbow) released a solo album that is just as good if not better than BMSR's stuff. It's called Fucked Up Friends and it sounds like if BMSR made a hip-hop or dance album. It's fucking awesome. "Truck Sweat" is the second track off the album and the video is toooootally weird. Definitely contender for Video Of The Year. But, uh, it's kinda NSFW. That is, if your work doesn't allow dildos to be used as microphones.
Tobacco has recently released a new string of music videos to accompany some of the tracks on the Fucked Up Friends LP. And to be completely honest, it's pretty obvious that this wasn't the results of a big money commission. But what the videos lack in terms of an expensive budget, they more than make up for in overall strangeness. Well, maybe 80s workout videos and clips from low-budget karate films aren't strange when taken into context, but they definitely feel that way when they're set to Tobacco's music. [...]

i've been listening to tobacco 's (from black moth super rainbow ) debut solo album fucked up friends for quite a while, and i can't help but feel this album sounds like the long-lost electronica cousin of dan friel 's ghost town . both are extremely short in length, comprise mostly instrumental tracks, and spend the entire album focused solely on developing a sound, rather than blossoming an idea. but while dan friel explores a peculiar kitchen blender meets neutral milk hotel sound, tobacco plays instead with analog synths and tape machines to create [...]
Here's the trippy new video for Tobacco 's "Truck Sweat", a highlight on the new must-have album Fucked Up Friends . This clip features a scene with dildos, so... NOT SAFE FOR WORK!!!
Tobacco gets more appealing with each listen, but for the sake of good taste, let's just skip any tawdry jokes about addiction. The LP Fucked Up Friends is currently out on anticon. records , and it's a great psychedelic, lo-fi spin on hip hop instrumentals. The music originally scored a Tobacco DVD that's currently out of print, and its good to see Fucked Up Friends back on the shelves--even with it's lack of visuals. There's no reason to leave electronica this catchy in the dust. For more info on [...]

Tobacco is the totally f***ed up side project from Tom Fec of Black Moth Super Rainbow fame. The debut album, Fucked Up Friends is one of the freshest albums I've heard all year. Clocking in at under 40 minutes, the psychedelic electronic jams here have an infectious undercurrent that really sticks with you. Take Ratatat , with a dash of Jefferson Airplane and a double dose of, well ...and slow it down - you've got Tobacco. Good, good stuff. Black Moth Super Rainbow [...]
"With the release of Fucked Up Friends on the immediate horizon, an unlikely supporter has swooped in to offer help for beat-pysch sideshow Tobacco. Indeed, the star of the Truth anti-smoking ads, Derrick Beckles, has apparently gone pro-Tobacco. Surprising or not (if you've caught his work at Street Boners and TV Carnage, probably not), Beckles has created an absurdly hillarious multi-part video series in support of Tobacco and the forthcoming Fucked Up Friends, due October 14th via Anticon. Check out the first clip in the series below, premiered over on Beckles' site this morning, and keep an eye out for [...]

Tobacco has always aimed to be unclassifiable, awkward, unbending and straight up unparalleled. With Black Moth Super Rainbow , dude was always displaying a penchant for fractures. Fractured beats, fractured lines, fractured vocals (if you can call them vocals). Now, with news of a proper full length solo effort on the way (via Anticon) called Fucked Up Friends , we're really itching to see where he's going to take us next. On "Truck Sweat", you'll see why we're so amped. Fucked Up Friends allegedly leaked in August, but [...]

Many may recognize Tobacco as part of the psychedelic dream that is Black Moth Super Rainbow. He's set to release his debut album Fucked Up Friends on Anticon on October 14th. While there are some glaring similarities between Tobacco's solo work and his work with BMSR, he clearly stretches himself out beneath rolls of tape and soaking wet analog synth on Fucked Up Friends . Black Moth Super Rainbow plays trippy sunshine, rainbows, bubblegum, butterflies, and such, but Tobacco reverses the tides and axis for this debut so day turns to night, fireflies emerge, and [...]
