EGYPTR by Egyptr How I found out about Egyptr was my good buddy Zach from We Listen For You Tweeted me a minute ago telling me this album was "pure Fantano," or something like that. I dunno about that. Maybe this is, like, in the 70-80 percentile. I'm just breakin' balls. Egyptr has some nice things going on with this self-titled LP. Massachusetts MC Reks drops a new music video from the second album he's released this year, REBELutionary , which you can grab a copy of here or here . If the intro to this video didn't make the subject matter of this song obvious enough, Reks and NiCS trade one verse after another pointing out a lot of the pointless, greedy motivations behind ghetto homicides. The beat produced by Numonics is pretty awesome, too. Really soulful vocal sample matched up with some watery guitars and a chunky boom bap beat. I like it.

Dirty Projectors drop another track from their forthcoming LP, Swing Lo Magellan . This track, and the previous one to be released , are taking the Projectors' sound in a noticeably sweeter, poppier direction. While it's nowhere near as hard-hitting as their earlier material, there's something sneaky about how these tracks have quietly seeped into my subconscious. Tattooing themselves in my musical memory without being completely aware, because I find myself humming their melodies long after I've decided to myself, "yeah, this is alright." A new track from the forthcoming Holograms album, which is self-titled and dropping via Captured tracks on July 10th. The band hails from Sweden and showcases a noisy, chaotic post-punk vibe. After a handful of listens to this album, I have to admit it is a bit similar to the Iceage album that dropped last year, New Brigade , but Holograms come off much less abrasive; favoring catchy hooks and moody vocals instead.

Danny Brown seems to be popping up everywhere lately . His output has been consistently strong, this song included. Backed by a beat that would sound right at home on Heems' Nehru Jackets , Brown and Schoolboy Q lay verses about their favourite pastimes. It's a fun song, and will fill any Danny Brown craving you may be having. Look for it July 17th, on The Alchemist compilation album Russian Roulette . / via /

Two of the most active producers in the current electronic music scene, Machinedrum and FaltyDL , have teamed up for a new track. Titled "Give In 2," the song was supposedly recorded in 2011, but it hadn't been made available to the public until now. Despite both originating from the U.S., the pair have been building their respective sounds off many of the trends in U.K. garage-rooted bass music that have grown so popular lately. The neo-psych pop project Black Moth Super Rainbow is back with a new tune and an album announcement via SoundCloud. Stream the track "Spraypaint" above, which is, to me, one of the prettiest songs I've heard come out of the project. It features the usual set of punchy beats and breathy, heavily manipulated vocals, but the end result is very serene gentle.

On the fourth track Death Grips has released from its forthcoming album, the Money Store , MC Ride and company continue to build a musical empire on the morbid and abrasive noise hop foundation laid out on last year's Exmilitary . Drummer Zach Hill's beats hit hard, featuring some subtle bass drums that are diddling away with fantastic precision. The synths toward the introduction of the track sound like the chopped and looped sample of a space ship engine revving up. The synths change toward the hook, though, sliding a catchy [...]

A stream of the third Scuba album, Personality . The album is dropping this week via Hotflush , and strikes me as being much less ambient and spacious than the project's last album, Triangulation . And that's fine with me, because the rhythms on this album are pretty driving and engaging.

Fine Before You Came is in Italian rock outfit, taking influences from the worlds of emo and post-hardcore to create its energetic and passionate songs. The group's latest LP, Ormai , is out now via La Tempesta. Stream one of its tracks, "Dublino" above.

Another track drops from the new Goatwhore album, which came out this week on Metal Blade Records . "When Steel and Bone Meet" has some strong thrash riffage, and vocals that cut like the steel mentioned in the song's title. While it doesn't contain a whole lot of detail or finesse, Goatwhore has the necessary energy and production to make aggression for aggression's sake pretty entertaining.

A track from the forthcoming BJ the Chicago Kid release, Pineapple Now-Laters , which is coming out on Valentine's Day. Damn, all I gotta say is this track is gorgeous from every angle. Kendrick Lamar's storytelling is vivid, dealing in one moral dilemma after another. His vocal delivery is cracking as if this angry, violent character he's playing is lost in a state of emotional confusion. The beat samples some soulful piano and sax, and BJ the Chicago Kid's smooth R&B vocals clean up everything really well toward the end of the track. I loved [...]

The first song to drop from is is the title track, which can be streamed above or downloaded below, and I love the momentum of this track. The rhythm is super smooth, the song is catchy, and the music is packed with ambitious instrumentation that calls out to bands like the Arcade Fire, too. I'm really digging [...]

Pop. 1280 - Bodies in the Dunes by sacredbones The horror! The horror! Pop. 1280 is a New York band that blends dark, moody post-punk vibes with plenty of guitar noise. They've got a new album titled the Horror on the way from Sacred Bones . Look for it on January 24th, and enjoy the track "Bodies in the Dunes" above.

Destroyer has recently covered the track “Leave Me Alone” for the Mojo New Order covers album of Power, Corruption & Lies . Destroyer's take on this song plays it a little safe, adding some distortion and slightly altered vocal delivery. It’s a pretty faithful adaptation; however, I am looking forward to hearing some different interpretations of these songs from the other bands on this compilation.

A$AP Rocky has delivered some new wave for the new year in anticipation for the A$AP crew album supposedly being released in February. This song is pretty much what you should come to expect from Rocky now after his last tape, which means strong original production, with little lyrical emphasis. The hook on this track is actually bit annoying after a while, but the beat by Spaceghostpurp is so original that it makes the track worth a few listens.
