They play their first ever gig this weekend in Galway. Leave Tonight by Dott [ Facebook | Twitter | Bandcamp ]

Fans of fuzzy garage pop music should take note of Terry Malts. The San Francisco band consists of Corey Cunningham (guitar, backing vox), Phil Benson (bass guitar, lead vox), and Nathan Sweatt (drums, backing vox). Together they create some catchy tunes that have a sing-along vibe to them ala The Ramones. Their debut album, Killing Time , releases on February 21st through Slumberland Records. Download their single "Tumble Down" after the jump. Read more »

The easy on the eyes and ears young british talent Yasmin is back again with her next single. This time round we see her hooking up once again with producer extraordinaire Shy Fx and Ms Dynamite. The single I like, however the remix coming from Mj Cole is an absolute beast. He puts a slight garage twang on a dancehall infused track but keeps the feel good euphoric nature that make the music tick. Check the streams below, including a vocal free Dub version. [...]

Check out the very interesting "Horrorscope" from Carter Tanton off his newest album Freeclouds . The song is a happy mess (I mean that politely) of distorted pop that shimmers and assaults. I don't know what I'm talking about anymore. The song is good. Trust me on that. http://rpc.blogcatalog.com/ http://rpc.technorati.com/rpc/ ping

Genre: Fuzz Pop, Fuzz Folk This is loud bedroom fuzz pop and the solo effort by someone I don't know. Reptilian Brain sounds like drunken Arcade Fire as one-man band, I mean the melody and the drive reminds me somehow on "Neigborhood 2 (Laika)" by Arcade Fire. A great EP. Nothing more to add. 8,8/10 [ This is the summary, read the whole story on Website ]

Lo-fi 60's sunshine garage pop from Calgary, Alberta. This one is from a free download split with Pour Bruno on Meow Posse. Available from Bandcamp . The cover I used is from a newer one called 'Having Your Heart Broken Means Once Having Had Somebody To Love' also available from their own Bandcamp .

summer girlfriends After a few days of cold, torrential downpours and wind that could mess up a perfectly nice beach , some sunny garage pop is just what the Doctor ordered. Chicago quintet Summer Girlfriends aim to bring us out of our near-winter funk with the gruff guitar riffs and bouncy back beats contained on their track "Bad Dreams." An all female group that describes their influences as "sunshine, tequila, and Slayer"? You win my heart every time. You can listen to "Bad Dreams" [...]

There are some dirty things in Bushwick but then there are charming things like GunFight! . Originally from Boston, GunFight! is an infectious rock band with the energy of a five-year-old boy and his first toy motorbike. The southern punk howls from Drew bounce on top of the band's dynamic country and rock spirit. These variations create something that we love from indie music. Frontier Land is GunFight!'s latest work and here are my personal favorites. Track 2. "All You Need" is animated with Dominic's fast-paced drumming and Drew's twangy [...]

Subpops emerald threesome Male Bonding have finally released their sophomore disc entitled ' Endless Now ' and I can't tell you how stoked I am. The album contains a bunch of gems and really echos that whole garage beach bum sound that I've come to truly adore and expect from the London brude. The new release includes 12 tracks of the most tender tenderness and I expect will be ranked pretty high up on thee ol' pitchfork meter, so go out and grab the record but most importantly go to the show! the drummer is unbelievable. ![[Introducing] – TEENS](http://cdn.elbo.ws/posts/3701050_lg.jpg)
Tweet From Boise, Idaho, come garage poppin', surf rockin' TEENS . But if this is garage-pop, it's a little dirtier, a lot more lo-fi; if this is surf-rock, it's about as close to surf rock as Beat Happening ever got, which is to say, I'm glad they went in another direction. Though they list their direct influences as the 13th Floor Elevators, The Animals, The Byrds and The Zombies, I was grateful that the sound doesn't immediately give it away. TEENS have a [...]

Genre: Black Metal, Spaghetti Western Twang Folk, Garage Pop Label: Floridas Dying This french dudes project is the polarity in person. This starts with the bandname and does not end with his music. Ok, it was not really surprising when his second album Blast from the Past, starts with a symphonic organ piece and goes on with a mangy black metal piece as opener. This is what he did on his debu [ This is the summary, read the whole story on Website ]

Shea Stadium (not to be confused with the sports arena) is one of those neighborhood-y, DIY venues that I always take my visitors to. Everyone seems be impressed with the hidden spot and the music played there. On a dark rainy night in Shea Stadium, some friends and I stumbled upon Chains of Love . This beautiful six bit band is greatly influenced with the beat generation of 602s garage soul. Nathalia, with her funky personality and tambourine, delivers swing dancing vocals that has so much inner root. I will admit, this genre of [...]

Filthy Friday exists to pump up the volume of everything bass. If it sounds like chainsaws are raining down upon you, accompanied by a sonic boom - then you're probably experiencing the heavy, heart attack inducing sounds of new dubstep. Filthy Friday is for 70/140BPM bass music meant to melt your brain into a puddle while you throw your hands in the air and dance the night away. The sounds here embrace intense frequency modulation, high and low alternating spreads, stiff glide parameters and bass low enough to crack the foundations of most suburban homes. Come back [...]
