Some very cool footage of 60's teens dancing and general "Hard Day's Night" style romping. Uploaded by XenonExplosion who notes: "Bought a box of empty 16mm and 8mm reels, with a few of them full of leader... and THIS footage!" "If anyone knows what it is or who the band is, or even the date, please share... It looks like a student film or "music video." (yeah, I know, it's on Film so it's not a video...)" "It has no soundtrack, and the sprocket side is very dark so I could barely make out --DACHRO-- [...]
"Wisconsin's Underground Sunshine perform their "one hit", a cover of the Beatles' 'Birthday', on...well, you know the show." "The Underground Sunshine consisted of Bert Kohl, Frank Kohl, Jane Little and Chris Connors." Uploaded by 60sgaragebands

It's hard to consider Radar Eyes' self-titled debut anything other than a pop record. While Radar Eyes is an amalgamation of garage, psychedelic and punk rock, the band manages to tightly piece those distinct sounds together. The album maybe rough around the edges tonally, but it's crystal clear in delivering a melodic palette, which provides just the right amount of catchiness and accessibility without losing that rock and roll edge. While Radar Eyes touch on the acidic nature of Spacemen 3 or [...]
from left: Jay Huling, Colin Scot, Kevin Shipman and Carl Berg The What's New have always fascinated record collectors: a group mistakenly listed as a Florida band, they released two EPs in France but nothing in the U.S. Their story starts with the Yachtsmen, a folk group founded by students at Long Beach City College in 1959. They became regulars at Disneyland in Anaheim, releasing an LP on Disney's Buena Vista label (BV-3310), "High and Dry with The Yachtsmen" in 1961. On the LP [...]
I'm very excited to announce our newest guest blogger, Chas Kit of the awesome Garage Hangover blog. I contacted Chas about some videos I found by a group called The What's New, I couldn't find much info on them, and what I did find turned out to be incorrect. But, of course, Chas has the scoop on them. Check out his post (with videos uploaded by Bedazzled.tv) coming up in a few minutes.

In The Red Records made an announcement yesterday that they will be releasing the first new album of new material from Memphis, Tennessee's The Oblivians since the 1997 LP ...Play 9 Songs With Mr. Quintron . There's no additional info at this time as the dang thing hasn't even been recorded yet, but I can't express how overjoyed I am to use the words "new album" and "Oblivians" in the same sentence. Check out the classic track "Mary Lou" below!

Man Legs // Cosmic Chief I've been a big fan of the young Calgary band Man Legs for a while now. I blogged about them a few times way back in the day. But given the nature of the blogging beast, sometimes it's hard to keep track of all the music that passes through my ears and I'm afraid to say that these dudes probably got lost in the shuffle somewhere along the way. Well I'm happy to announce that Man Legs has made a huge comeback from [...]

Austin, TX garage rockers A Giant Dog have just released "Fight", their new 15 track full length LP for the Chicago based Tic Tac Totally label. From the label: "Female pipes yowlin' on top o' dissonant hooks knee deep in country-fried, blues-tinged LA punk musicality a-la THE EYES and FLESH EATERS in ye olde songwriting department is on point. I guess the inevitable comparison here is to X, but swap Billy Zoom's pretty production with the drunken scuzzy sheen enlisted to do the master's bidding! ATTACK THE DORKS! " You [...]
Heavy Hippies - Cheapdrugsfreelove by Al Lover Fresh off the Al Lover Bandcamp , here's a new set of instrumentals that combine the schools of hip hop, garage rock, and psychedelic rock. The sounds that come together on this thing are hard, heavy, and grimy. Tons of wailing solos, tarnished guitar chords, and lumbering beats. I also wanna note that Al is pretty great when it comes to mixing his sounds with the sounds he's sampling. It's almost as if the hip hop beats he's throwing against these vintage rock [...]

"Crimson Guard", the self released debut LP by Dan Sartain , came out back in 2001 in an edition of 200 copies, and has been scarce ever since. Those who have been searching for a copy are in luck, as this week Cass Records , the Detroit based label run by Dirtbombs drummer Ben Blackwell , began offering their limited reissue of the LP. The album comes in an impressive hand stamped jacket, and is once again limited to just 200 copies. Half the copies will be available at Dan's shows, the [...]

Do you like Tom Vek? We do. Rather a lot, it should be said. His electronic garage-rock sound is exciting and superbly well crafted by an artist with, frankly, a prodigious talent. He did his best to avoid all kinds of attention for six years, only to pop back on the surface of the earth with last summer's Leisure Seizure . It was good. He played a gig for Vice's Noisey a little while back and they followed him around with cameras and asked him some questions. To see that video click on the photo up [...]

Garage indie rock band Youthless dropped a track yesterday on Bad Panda Records' soundcloud. It's a nice, short punk track that got stuck in my head instantly. Very reminiscent of a sped up Klaxons, what with the guitar distortion and occasionally heavy percussion.
