With their second studio release, The Milk Carton Kids have solidified themselves as yet another 60’s folk revival group that would be as at home in Washington Square Park as onstage at your local coffee house. Simplicity is the name of the game as the group is actually a duo that combines the harmonies of Simon and Garfunkel with high range finger picking. The Ash & Clay, the duo’s first release on Anti Records, sticks to traditional folk music themes like love (“Honey, Honey”), loss (“Whisper in Her Ear”) and even a political anti war tune (“Ash [...]
Garfunkel & Oates are Riki Lindhome and Kate Miccuci. On their own, they are both well respected actresses, musicians, and writers. Of course, when they work together, it's pure magic. No matter who you are, somebody has posted one of their videos on your Facebook wall. They are bringing their live show to Rickshaw Stop [...] The post 10 Quick Questions with Garfunkel & Oates appeared first on Spinning Platters .

Fort Frances recently added to their cover song output with the Paul Simon penned and Simon & Garfunkel performed "The Only Living Boy in New York" off the legendary "Bridge Over Troubled Water" album. Regardless of it being a folk staple, I come away from it quite pleased. Considering they did a great cover of Beck's "Guess I'm Doing Fine" from his (imho almost legendary) album "Sea Change" a while back, I find myself not surprised. Listen to both below. ~ ~ You might also want to listen to the [...]
Some of the most talented people on earth hail from right here in the San Francisco Bay Area. In fact, we have so many uber-talented musicians, writers, comics, speakers, artists, chefs, and so on, that it's easy to take them for granted. Reggie Watts is one of those performers. He seems to be performing all [...]

My favourite funny women of pop, the duo of Garfunkel & Oates , are back with their scathing yet witty take on safeguarding the interests of the rich in America. Watch & enjoy their latest song Save The Rich .

The ladies are back with their new single and video just in time for your favorite stoner's favorite day of the year. Kate "Oates" Micucci is fast becoming one of my favoritest entertainers. She's kind of adorable. Sometimes I'd like to miniaturize her and put her in my pocket for when I'm feeling depressed. [via punchline ]
![Childish Gambino [INTRODUCTION]](http://cdn.elbo.ws/posts/3221960_lg.jpg)
Childish Gambino . Donald Glover . Comedian . Actor. Rapper. Singer. All of those words can be used interchangeably when describing this new presence in the indie hip hop world. Let’s stick to Childish Gambino for now. Anyway, I heard about this kid a little while back and was confused. Who was he? It didn’t get much clearer when I went to listen to his music. In some songs, he seemed to be a singer. Then “Freeks and Geeks” came along and BOOM. This dude is a rapper! And he’s not joking around! Seriously. Listen to [...]
At this point can we call Garfunkel and Oates the female Lonely Island? Their newest song, "This Party Just Took a Turn for the Douche," features a ton of smart references and puns, but uses them all to slam the douchebag guys who take over their club.
Simon & Garfunkel - Cecilia I was talking to a friend earlier this morning and out of the blue, this song started playing in my head. Our conversation did not pertain to any references or the subject matter of the song. It just popped into my mind, and now, I can’t get it out. Even after bomb-blasting my brain with different tunes and sounds. I am stuck on Cecilia. Hopefully, you won’t hate me for this, but give this classic track a listen and enjoy your day! Later. http://www.simonandgarfunkel.c om/ca/home

"This is not a mashup album, this is an album about Wayne." This is perhaps one of the most eloquent mashups (despite the artist's above claim) that I've heard to date- perfect tension between the Wayne vocals and the underlying music. I'd kill to hear some solid electro / house / dubstep remixes of any of these! Big ups to My Sick Uncle ( smunro408 on soundcloud / @mysickuncle ) for putting together this beauty. Download the full album in .zip format at 500DaysOfWeezy.com . [...]

Just in time for our melancholy mix Glumella , Kina Grannis cover Simon & Garfunkel's sombre "The Sound Of Silence," which is featured as the retro track on the compilation. Brilliant cover! And she gives us a synopsis of what's going on in the studio. Posted in Beats, Clip, Mix It Up, Yankee Panky Tagged: cover, garfunkel, grannis, kina, simon

Slow day for videos and I am not about to leave you with absolutely nothing for today and tomorrow because I am going on a grand trip to Ogunquit, Maine and I am not sure if i will blog from there. However, Simon and Garfunkel are my soundtrack for the trip as I have downloaded their entire collection, which is much smaller than I thought. Their sound paved they way for many bands across the rock and pop sphere. This is why we have bands like Air, Zero 7 (above post) and Husky Rescue. Posted in Beats, Clip, Oldie, [...]
