Download a free 12 track sampler from one of the hottest labels of the minute, Flying Lotus' label Brainfeeder. Featuring beats from Gaslamp Killer, Tokimonsta, Martyn, Mono/Poly, Teebs and more.

Martyn, The Gaslamp Killer en Thundercat. Je kunt [...]
Brainfeeder have just won the Label of the Year award at the 2012 Gilles Peterson Worldwide Awards and to celebrate, they're giving away a free 12 track sampler! There are goodies on there from Thundercat,

Details for the Cypress Hill Smokeout Festival have been announced. Thievery Corporation, Rusko, Low End Theory (Daddy Kev, Nobody, Gaslamp Killer, D-Styles, Nocando), DJ Muggs, Curren$y and Daedelus have been added to the performers at Cypress Hill Smokeout Festival—taking place March 3 at the NOS Events Center in San Bernardino, CA. They are set to join previously announced artists Sublime With Rome, Cypress Hill, Korn, Wiz Khalifa, Café Tacuba and The Dirty Heads. The Cypress Hill Smokeout Festival is presented by Cypress Hill and Guerilla Union-the independent live events company behind world-class platforms [...]
I know this is up for debate, but Coachella has proven itself as the music festival of music festivals here in the United States, and this year they are going to try and kill it for two weekends. To begin the hype, the festival has announced their massive lineup, which spans across hip-hop, indie rock, and house. Oh, did I mention house? They have just about every big named cornball DJ on here, including Swedish House Mafia, Avicii, Afrojack, Girl Talk, David Guetta, Calvin Harris and more-so you can be sure to see some kids spinning their little [...]
Brainfeeder is one of our favourite labels, they have an amazing catalog of artists, The Gaslamp Killer being one of them. If you've ever seen one of his live shows, he really knows how to make a crowd hype. A lot of his tracks are completely improvised, Monsterfromtheunderground isn't but still amazing! Born William Benjamin Bensussen, he originally comes from San Diego, CA, whose downtown Gaslamp District's bar scene inspired him to name himself the Gaslamp Killer in disgust for much of the patronage. Buy all of his albums from here and check posts [...]

Canberra promo collectives Blahnket and Treehouse have collaborated to bring Brainfeeder alum The Gaslamp Killer to the top floor of Uni Pub - tomorrow night! I've ripped some of the info below from the event page - this event is definitely worth a geez, particularly if you like your vibrations on the super low, glitchy dubstep tip. The Brainfeeder label has been killing life lately - tomorrow night will be a great taste. The Gaslamp Killer, Live @ The Drake, Sept 13 2009. Toronto. from mymanhenri on [...]
DEATH GRIPS Exmilitary Third Worlds Music This album feels like a deliberate challenge to Gaslamp Killer, not only to claim his throne as the most intense, crazy sample-based hip-hop sound in California, but also to reinstate the MC's role firmly in the new era. Death Grips' MC Ride shouts with an in-the-red intensity somehow stranded in the Bermuda Triangle of soccer hooligan chants, "Who Let the Dogs Out," and Onyx. There's a major debt to horrorcore in these lyrics about orgies in [...]

For three years in a row now, I've gone to HARD Haunted Mansion, usually leaving satisfied, tired, and in awe. This year that wasn't so much the case. Although two acts saved the entire night for me, I have to admit that this years' HHM was a bit of a disappointment. Of course this review is somewhat partial because I didn't attend Saturdays' festivities but I still believe it has relevance. I hope you enjoy what you read. Highlights: [...]

An event is happening Thursday that may or may not feature Gaslamp Killer, Peanut Butter Wolf and a birthday cake for Mr. Weiss , blunt candles I presume. Oh, and then there's these cats: Flash Bang Grenada (Hellfyre Club), Folerio (Stones Throw), Spaceghostpurrp, Jonti (Stones Throw), Vex Ruffin (Stones Throw) and Deejay Wilsson Soto.

Zaterdag 1 oktober [...]

After witnessing James Blake, Flying Lotus and Gaslamp Killer all deliver incredible sets at last week's Low End Theory (my full review can be found here ), I found myself listening to some of their best selections over the course of the following days. One of the many highlights of Flying Lotus' set was Martyn's "Popgun" from the upcoming Ghost People LP, set to be released next month on Brainfeeder. Ghost People marks the 25th release on the label, and if the raging crowd at Low End during "Popgun" and constant DJ rotation of the [...]

Wow. Well, you know what stage I'll be camped out at. Here are the details for the 13th Annual Eagle Rock Music Festival via BuzzBands.la : "The festival runs from 4 to 11 p.m. on Saturday, Oct. 1. A $5 donation is requested (though organizers say no one will be turned away due to lack of funds)." EMERGING STAGE [...]

The 13th annual Eagle Rock Music Festival has it wired. The daylong neighborhood affair along Colorado Boulevard will feature 11 scions of the L.A. beat scene — the Low End Theory stage boasts performances by Flying Lotus, Nosaj Thing and the Gaslamp Killer, among others — and enough of this city's top indie music to make a junction function. Health, Shadow Shadow Shade, Rooney and Mia Doi Todd are among the artists playing the festival's eight stages. The festival runs from 4 to 11 [...]

GLK hit Amsterdam a few weeks ago, and we ought to have more than just aural evidence of his imprint in the land of clogs and kush. Some enterprising television producer needs to see the future and tab Will Bensussen to be the Anthony Bourdain of esoteric international weed strains and blunted beats. In the meantime, we'll have to make do with his mix for Red Light Radio. After all, Willie is perhaps the finest ambassador of California existence we could hope for: prone to explosive pyrotechnic sets, demented dervish dance moves, and a jewfro that even I [...]

While the Gaslamp Killer continues on his European takeover this summer, he had some time this week to stop off at Red Light Radio in Amsterdam for an hour long mix session with DJ Cinnaman. The hour-long session, available to stream below, highlights some of Gaslamp's current obsessions and serves as somewhat of a postcard to us in LA who've become accustomed to seeing the incredibly talented DJ wreck our summer BBQs over the years with his diverse selections and amazing mixing skills. As expected, the tracklist is pretty unpredictable and runs the gamut from old school soul to The [...]
Untitled from MOCHILLA on Vimeo . File under: Thundercat funk, Gaslamp Killer ferocity, Flying Lotuses, Mochilla, and Beat Scene evangelism. Tangentially related: Mike Eagle is giving away this collaboration with Blowed Vet Gajah and Ellul for free. As with anything Eagle-related, you will probably want to hear it. Sponge feat. Brainfeeder @ BBC Radio 1 Ok this is pretty dope. Originally broadcast in January of this year, Brainfeeder took over the Benji B BBC Radio 1 show here in the UK. With hosts Flying Lotus and The Gaslamp Killer, it takes you through a selection of the Brainfeeder library, including sets by Tokimonsta and Flying Lotus plus a couple of live jams which are pretty damn fun to listen to. This is really cool way to let people know about the Brainfeeder label (which is why I'm putting it up, I only just found it, wish [...]
