New unmastered track from Seattle's Blue Scholars, titled "The Decisive Moment." A new song in progress. It’s unmastered, for now, but wanted to share with you all since it’s been a minute. More coming. http://bluescholars.com/new-tr ack-blue-scholars-the-decisive -moment/

I was approached by The Seattle Times to write an op-ed guest column commenting on the recent gun violence in Seattle. So I wrote a rap and they liked it and posted the lyrics here (w/ video) in the online Sunday edition (June 10th). People asked for a studio version so I quickly recorded the verses

Ah Blue Scholars , you never fail to impress. Geo and Sabzi are back once again about a year after the release of Cinemetropolis , the fan supported album that dug into the world of cinema and it's relation to life. According to their Soundcloud page, the track "May Day" is a single that Geo wrote the lyrics to after being asked to write in a guest column for The Seattle Times newspaper commenting about recent gun violence in the area - so he wrote a rap. The Times liked it so much that he [...]

Taco Tuesday EP by Brothers From Another

I've been a fan of Blue Scholars since their Rawkus days in 2007. While they have not been as active as of late, their music is always on point. This new cut, which Geo actually wrote for the Seattle Times , is razor sharp. Geo was asked to write about gun violence in Seattle, and this record cuts to the core of the problems, which are deep, multi-generational, and change depending on who you ask and who is on the wrong side of the weapon. Check it out below.
Is it just me or were the Blue Scholars a lot bigger a few years ago? I totally forgot they even released a full-length last year called Cinemetropolis . Anyway, they have a new track called "May Day", coinciding with MC Geo's Seattle Times op-ed article. The track sounds like, well, every other Blue Scholars song. My earlier complaints about the group remain, monotone lyricism over the same beats per minute. But it is an enjoyable track, and I know these dudes have a crazy following behind them. Give it a spin and let us know what [...]

New music from Blue Scholars, "May Day". I was approached by The Seattle Times to write an op-ed guest column commenting on the recent gun violence in Seattle. So I wrote a rap and they liked it and posted the lyrics here (w/ video) in the online Sunday edition (June 10th). People asked for a studio version so I quickly recorded the verses over this Sabzi beat from last year and the homie Justo came through with the clutch 90-minute mix down. Thank you for listening. - Geo/Prometheus Brown
Sitting in the dreary northwest, where the weather is depressing enough that I've resorted to reading about Nicki Minaj's musical(?) endeavors, I'll take any hint of summertime bliss. Seattle duo Brothers From Another provided just what the doctor ordered, serving up a milkshake-smooth joint as the perfect dessert for your evening. The assist from Thig Natural (of The Physics) on the hook and second verse solidified the track as summertime playlist lock. BFA's new EP, Taco Tuesday , will be released on June 12. You can stream “Molly Moon” here .

[There is a video that cannot be displayed in this feed. Visit the blog entry to see the video.] The newest flick from my homies the Blue Scholars off their latest album Cinémetropolis . Shot in the neighboring Asian markets in the Seattle area this video shows the diverse cultures that make up the Northwest city. Plus, Geo and Sabzi look like they are in their element. Check that beer doused adobo! And the balut! I'm still stoked how they funded their whole album and media content on Kickstarter. Go [...]

I love that fact that though Geo and Sabzi are on different coasts they can still get down on a video and make it uniquely entertaining. Can't wait for the next one kiddos! Directed and edited by the ever talented (and Sabzi's brother) Zia Mohajerjasbi.
