It's been some time since we've heard anything cogent from Southend ensemble These New Puritans – some time too long. In the meanwhile since the release of their quite rightly widely heralded Hidden LP of 2010, Thomas Hein has been seen partaking in psychological learnings at Goldsmiths, George Barnett has led a considerably more two-dimensional existence in once ubiquitous Fred Perry advertising and braniacal bro Jack can be traced to the northern end of the Piccadilly line, a backpack brimming with frayed cables more or less surgically affixed to his spine. They have, to "quote/ [...]

Daft Punk are back, and you know when a band is worth it when everyone fancies covering them. Here we have 7 of the best Daft Punk - Get Lucky covers! 7 - The Struts 6 - Postmen 5 - Floating Point 4 - Peace and Mystery Jets 3 [...]

This is going viral now! George Barnett is a solo artist who records everything on his own, performs all of the instruments, sings and even mixes and masters his own album and EPs.
Here's the second cover today of Daft Punk and Pharrell 's "Get Lucky." While Daughter created a slow, sensual cover of the original track , George Barnett recreated the song from scratch and videotaped himself doing it all along. It's even got some fun production built in, which makes for a fun experience to watch. I almost feel a bit like I'm seeing George perform live - his energy is contagious. You can't hate a guy for shaking the eggs with determination. [...]
It's sort of disheartening when people write off entire genres of music. They do not seem to realize the vast similarities between most of these genres. With this cover, SITR favorite George Barnett displays just how fluidly a rap track can be translated into an all out rock song. It's kind of amazing; check it out. BONUS! Check out his highly recommended Where The Devil Sleeps EP, which dropped late last year and was inexplicably ignored by us. Sorry. - [...]

Singer-songwriter George Barnett brings a melodic sincerity and heartfelt wisdom to a exceptionally fresh cover of “Ride” by Lana Del Ray that the 18 year old Brit recorded and produced himself. Props. By Erin Feathers George Barnett - Ride (Lana Del Rey) George Barnett ( Facebook ) Rating 8.09
Sunset got to sit down with UK artist George Barnett and talk about his songwriting process, his mom, and more. We love you, George.
Eighteen year old George Barnett released his debut album, 17 Days , earlier this year. If that's not impressive enough, he's a multi-instrumentalist, playing drums, bass, guitar, piano, trumpet, harmonica, and keys as well as singing on it. Lone Rose is one of the songs of that album and as you can see above, there's a pretty cool video for it. It's a slightly abbreviated version of the song, essentially cutting out the outro, to help the video come in a little under 7 minutes long. It's happy-sounding indie pop [...]
There's a lot of bedroom pop floating around nowadays. Lo-fi stuff, usually just a few instruments, and an incredibly angsty teenager at the helm of it all. It's pretty tough to sort through the shit and find the good stuff. So, today I found some of the good stuff, figured it'd be worth a share. George Barnett self-released his album 17 Days this past Monday. A follow up to 2010's Sierra Planes , 17 Days is a more polished and mature sounding record, with loads of instrumentation and poignant [...]

By Trevor Meyer 18 yr old, George Barnett is set to release 17 days , on March 12th. “Lone Rose” is the first single to be released from the album. Not only does Mr. Barnett write wonderful music, he also produced, directed, and edited the video for Lone Rose. To top it off, George plays all of the instruments. To say this young man has a bright future is an immense understatement. There’s no need to wait, George Barnett is burning new paths by fusing [...]
The fine folks over at Bobby-Best Creative turned me onto George Barnett , a 17-year-old kid from the UK who sings songs about college ("If you want to waste 5 years, baby you can do it with me"), not wanting an ID ("I don’t want my iris scanned so I can walk through my yard"), and dancing the night away on his debut EP, Sierra Planes . George is a wise kid, he knows the way of the music world even as a teenager, and he's offering up the EP [...]

A mere sixteen months ago to the day, Hidden, the sophomore These New Puritans LP was outed, and instantaneously adored . Last time they set London to the sword, heads (or at least watermelons) rolled over in the Barbican, however the cavernous catacombs of the subterraneous Heaven seem a rather more fitting setting for the doomy, spunky post-punk hybrid they're now seen to have perfected. Redefining ambition every potentially precarious step of the way, from chainmail the trio progressed to woodwind, and the hype and hubbub eventually culminated in the aforementioned EC2 show. Yet tonight further change [...]
