Andreas Vollenweider is a highly successful Swiss musician, known for his trademark self-modified electro-acoustic harp sound, featuring in a great majority of his work. However, Andreas also incorporates other instruments of the world into his pieces, bringing a nice blend of delightful sounds. "Down to the Moon", Andreas' fourth album (and my favourite) even received a Grammy! "One's enjoyment of this album will likely hinge on one's regard for repetition. When a loop changes timbre yet repeats for 25 minutes, is this a good thing or bad? Is the intricate process behind such tweaking fascinating to the ear, or tedious? A curious beauty can arise from the cyclical nature of a morphing sample, a transcendent, trancelike nudge; or the repetition can fall flat and alienate the listener. Fortunately the loops on Markus Mehr 's In trail lovely threads, like [...]

German Michael Bundt has been involved with a number bands in the early 70s, most notably Nine Days Wonder (tracks: 'We Never Lost Control' and 'Only the Dancers', Wintergarden (album: Wintergarden III), Medusa, and his band Nerve (although recordings were never released except for two tracks on a compilation ). In the mid 70s Michael shifted from a kraut-rock sound to something more 'electronic', releasing three solo albums: 'Just Landed Cosmic Kid' (where the tracks posted below are lifted from), 'Neon' & 'Electri City'. German ambient drone maestro Markus Mehr will be following up his stunning debut album Lava with not one, not two, but three Hidden Shoal releases across 2012 and 2013. The first part of the triptych, In , will be released on 26 January 2012. It comprises two monumental tracks, 'Komo' and 'Ostinato', each of which clocks in at around 25 minutes, circling around and building upon hypnotic instrumental motifs. You can take a sneak peek at what's in store by viewing some live footage of Mehr's performing ' Komo [...]
I guess I am in a mood for this specific genre. I particularly like the work of !Distain and I am happy to share this newish video of recent material. It does seem to aim for And One's crowd, and I am not sure they need to do that.

I'm a bit late to the party with this Till Von Sein track, as the video has been floating about since the beginning of the month. But hey, I just saw it this morning so there's a chance you maybe missed it too. Non Existent Love is the first single from debut album LTD (Living The Dream apparently) and features Tiger Skin, Lazarus and Meggy...... and a topless chick in a Venetian mask. Oh yes, I know how to spoil you on a Tuesday afternoon. Have a listen to the rest of the album (the track with Catz N Dogz [...]

If there was ever an improvement of 200% it would be the featured article we are about to write about. Beens. Where the fuck did this come from? We are by far impressed with this current track releasing for free from German onslaughter 'Beens' This is impressive, well structure, and to be straight to the point an absolute monster of a track. It's Tough with impressive sounds, structure, hip hop samples. This is fun and sounds mighty tight with all these elements combined, we only give you a shout out of "Well [...]

Releasing a follow up to their self-titled 2010 debut, Stockholm-based duo Roll the Dice (featuring TV and film composers Malcolm Pardon and Peder Mannerfelt) have gone in a rather different direction with "In Dust". As the somewhat dark yet earthy album artwork suggests, Roll the Dice have moved forward from a sound that the BBC's Chris Power described as 'more directly related to the work of trailblazing 1970s kosmische bands such as Tangerine Dream and Cluster' to a sound that is polished, gloomy and imposing. It's a rather interesting change. Read more..
Sorry for the lack of posts on my end, but I've been terribly busy with Shampoo, our new upcoming webradio system. And it's coming out really good. This out-of-this-world EP was once for sale at the Cosmic Dudes', then nothing... until now. A Friday night trip to Mr. Dunderbaks was supposed to fulfill my German quota for the weekend. I made extremely quick work of a vegetarian Reuben, pomme frites and potato latkes. Yet there I was, Saturday morning, still a-hankerin for some German foods. I found a recipe for Frikadellen, which is sort of like a German hamburger, on the Dunderbaks Facebook page and decided to work my veggie magic on it. Frikadellen ( printable version ) [...]

Its an odd feeling when the second half of summer takes over and the Fall album's begin to begin to make their way into the news. Apparat , the highly-lauded German electronica artist, is no exception. Making huge waves as each song slowly takes over the likes of The Hype Machine and many other media outlets, Apparat's new album titled The Devil's Walk will be here on September 27, 2011 via Mute . The Devil's Walk will mark Sascha Ring's fourth album. You'll see the album art below is drenched in purple. [...]

RAMMSTEIN AT THE FORUM I can confidently say this will be one of the Top 10 shows of 2011 for me. Rammstein may get a roll of the eyes from the average American concert goer, but that's because they probably have no real idea what goes on at one of these shows. Sure it's a lot of evil sounding German lyrics over really heavy guitar riffs, but it's so much more! I wasn't exactly sure what to expect from Rammstein at the Forum, but I knew it would [...]
At first listen, I knew I would adore this album by ZyniC . It touches on all the elements of synthpop that I love so much. The melodies, the classic vocal style, that analogue synth and little bubbly squelches. I love that Speak 'n' Spell effect for some reason. Each track has a lot going on, but it doesn't become sensory overload. The lyrics deal with the subjects we've come to expect from the genre: love, silence, the heart, blame, regret, dreams, the soul... I could go on. Instead, I encourage you to get a hold of Zynic's [...]
The April weather here in Ohio has been utterly miserable. Gray, rainy, sometimes cold and other times stormy. So there hasn't been much opportunity to blare awesome songs with the car windows down. This song by Sweet Sweet Moon has likely jumped near the top of the heap I'm stockpiling for summer, when hopefully warmer [...]
