Dublin 5 piece Ghost Estates made quite an impression in the latter half of last year through a number of tasty live shows and two stellar singles, ‘Paris’ and ‘Forever or Never’. They have been quick to introduce 2012 to their delectably tight indie sound, releasing a brand new single, 'October'. If you liked what you [...]

Dublin 5 piece, Ghost Estates were formed from the remnants of two pretty different bands, SickBoy and 8Ball. Named after the post 'Celtic Tiger' Ireland phenomena of unoccupied and unfinished housing projects, this coming together of forces results in a mish mash of different styles which works ever so well. Debut single 'Paris' is electronic, euphoric in [...]
Back at the start of the summer, when Ireland still believed the sun could shine and our troubles would all fade away for three months, I wrote about a band whose name hardly strikes of hope and positivity. Ghost Estates did, however, offer a free download of a great song, [Read more]
Here's the day by day breakdown of this weekend's Castlepalooza festival and it looks like a great line-up. I'm delighted that blog favourites The Young Folk, El Hombre Jokes and The Gorgeous Colours have been rightly given decent stage times on the main stage! Here's songs from the best 10 Irish acts at the festival: The Gorgeous Colours: Cloakroom [...]

If you happened to be listening to BBC6 Music yesterday evening and in particular the Now Playing show, you may have noticed that some of the new music recommendations on one of the two guest blogger spots came from Breaking More Waves (the other was from the exceptionally good A New Band A Day ). If you missed it, then for the next seven days you can listen again by visiting the BBC6 Music Now Playing website and hear our choices. If you don't want to listen to the whole show (you really should) the [...]

SINGAPORE : I'm Waking Up To... Humming Kitten - Monochrome Little is known of Humming Kitten, and we get the impression they'd like to keep it that way. It is a little disconcerting at first, approaching this musical project without any preconceived ideas of who or what the band members are, and appreciating their musical ideas purely at face value and on first impressions. However, once you soak it all in, you might feel [...]
![[#MusicMonday] Ghost Estates – “Paris”](http://cdn.elbo.ws/posts/3515337_lg.jpg)
I'm a sucker for a good back story. So when I stumbled upon the Wikipedia entry for " ghost estates " while searching for the band of the same name and found out that the term refers to abandoned houses from a boom and bust in Ireland called the Celtic Tiger period, I was pretty much smitten (luckily it turns out ). These guys have played together for about a year and a half after the members' two previous bands - Sickboy and 8Ball - collapsed. They [...]

I really like the vibe from Ghost Estates. The indie rock band risen from the ashes of Sickboy and 8Ball write indie tunes which remind me of mid 90s Creation Records era and they provide a very different sound to what is out there at the moment. Check out the debut single 'Paris'. Paris by GHOST ESTATES Upcoming Shows Banquet [...]
Everybody agrees 2010 was a vintage year for Irish music. It's unanimous. But 2011 is halfway through and so far there has only been a couple of bands who have made much of an impact on me so far: Retarded Cop, Hired Hands and Yeh Deadlies!, while I know Cashier [Read more]
