Hunky-dory Bloodsports heralds the welcome return of the British band after a 10-year absence from the music scene.

Foxygen is the duo of Sam France and Jonathan Rado. Hailing from Westlake Village outside LA, Foxygen was formed in 2005 when they were just teenagers, but their glam/classic rock inspired sound only got wider attention with their debut label release Take The Kids Off Broadway in 2012 and its more pop oriented 2013 follow-up We Are The 21st Century Ambassadors Of Peace & Magic .  As with any band that wear their influences on their sleeve, Foxygen get a fair bit of stick [...]

Giorgio Moroder became known worldwide not only as one of the pioneering disco producers, but also one of the most important producers to use and adapt synthesisers and sequencers; Donna Summer's "I Feel Love" was released only one year before "Moonshiner", but the two tracks come from different sides of a similar coin. Using the pseudonym Tracey Dean (along with frequent collaborator Pete Bellotte), Moroder cut one of the ultimate glam-rock stompers in 1974. Several websites list Bellotte as the vocalist, but it sure sounds like Moroder to my ears, especially when heard in sequence with the nest [...]

On the front cover of  Hot Cakes , the new album by the Darkness, are three scantily clad women sitting atop stacks of pancakes. The women are smothered in what appears to be maple syrup and the whole situation looks like something only a real rock star would ever experience. The scene seems like an imaginary fantasy, but you never know with the Darkness. As bizarre and and odd as the band is, something tells me they live the real rockstar life. Something tells me that maple syrup fantasy is based more off real life than we might expect. [...]

Mumbai's two-year old glam rock/metal outfit Overhung are set to release their first EP soon. The four-track EP will be available as a free digital download initially, followed by a physical release and an album-launch performance sometime in September. Overhung, known as "the band that brings the party," have been around for a couple of years now, playing a few gigs around Mumbai and Delhi.
