English duo The Big Pink released their second record Future This a few weeks ago. I wasn't sure what to expect from the group after their hit album A Brief History of Love . Would they be a one album wonder like Glasvegas or will they build on that album into something better? Luckily for us, the new record expands on the Big Pink sound and the result is a really good album. The album has surprisingly dropped some of the shoe-gaze/wall of sound elements that made their first album popular, and replaced it with [...]

41. Kasabian 'Velociraptor!' - Not as good as they think it is. 42. M83 'Hurry Up, We're Dreaming' - Double album? Really? 43. The Strokes 'Angles' - A sadly underwhelming comeback. 44. Red Hot Chili Peppers 'I'm [...]

STV have come in for some massively unfair stick in the past, but they have come back fighting this week with one of the funniest pieces I've seen in ages. This week they published a list of nominations for the best Scottish songs of the noughties, to be voted for by viewers, with the intention of eventually whittling the numbers down to select 'Scotland's Greatest Ever Album'. And it is hilarious . The list of nominated songs for the last ten years or so is absolutely brilliant. I can't tell if it's the best satire [...]

Blog points out. You can find the entire tracklist below. ![Brandon's TBE Digest 26 [8.10.2011] New Jams, Remixes, & Covers!](http://cdn.elbo.ws/posts/3639614_lg.jpg)
Brandon's TBE Digest is a place where I gather up all the recent jams that are worth a listen (or 10) but don't necessarily need their own post. Here you will find new tracks by known bands, remixes, covers, and even mashups if they are interesting. My favorites of the lot are in bold . See that nifty little intro in italics up there? Yeah, it was brought to my attention that these Digests didn't come with much in the way of explanation and even dedicated TBE readers may not really understand what the heck [...]

Anyone who found themselves to be fans of the gritty nature of Glasvegas ' first album may find themselves surprised by their latest single Shine Like Stars , released 18th July. Taken from their top ten second album, EUPHORIC /// HEARTBREAK \\\ , the track is notably a lot more optimistic than the likes of Daddy's Gone ; an aspect which also succeeds in making it sound a lot more anthemic than the music taken from their self-titled debut. However, James Allan's strong & hardy Glaswegian accent remains an overwhelming factor of the song ensuring that [...]

You know The Soundmen always come correct. Whether they are remixing Adele, The Killers, Dev, you name it, their remixes are always good. They recently decided to take a stab at Glasvegas' hit song "Geraldine." Similar in the vein of their The Killers remix, they take the alternative hit and gave it some thumbing bass and melodic synths. Can they do no wrong? I think not. "In the same vein as our Killers remix, Justin and I were playing around on keyboards this weekend and decided to flip one of our [...]

Ever had a night out where the music was so good, but couldn't hear that one song that had been bouncing around your head all week? Well if you were just anyone you would rush home and listen to song and call it night. The Soundmen aren't just anyone, they take that song and reinvent an alt-rock masterpiece into a dancehall ready track made for dancing, perfect for anyone who needs some thumping bass and beats in your life. Take a listen, love, share, download for your own. In my personal opinion the real brilliant [...]
