Jamie Hewlett and Damon Albarn set out to create another visual/aural masterpiece in the post- Gorillaz age with one more simian-based tale, "Monkey: Journey To The West".  The piece, based on a legend in Chinese mythology, was first created for stage representation (an opera) last year, but Albarn and Hewlett made reference to possibly adapting it into a full-on album and, from there, they've gone and done it.  Monkey: Journey To The West came out last month and since then has peaked on the UK charts at number five.  Amazing. Album Review: Monkey – Journey to the West First let me get this out of the way: Monkey is no Gorilla(z). It’s from the same species, but far from the same animal. Gorillaz is strong and powerful, obvious, yet vastly interesting. Monkey is more complex, long and stringy in comparison, and takes careful observation as well as a meticulous attention span. Of course, we didn't go to the Q Awards, as we seldom leave the house, but luckily 6 Music has a fairly comprehensive report . So, who got what, then?
